How many stadiums have the ability to hold a large number of people in the concourse, allowing them to still get a good view of the game without causing too many circulation problems? Not many at all...

It's another nice design feature of HRS, and another reason to never even consider replacing HRS with some tacked-together bleachers some people call a stadium.

But it's really tough to follow the action when the concourse is jammed tight.

<sigh> Rice fans don't realize how good they have it. At most other college football stadiums, you either sit in the rain or leave the stadium. There's little room to hang out in the concourses, and you are unlikely to see any of the game at all.

Agreed ... figured that out last year at the Armed Forced Bowl. Not much viewing area from the TCU concourse.

Agree. It's rare for us to get to see a cold-weather game.

...and, quite honestly, 40 degrees is rarely considered a "cold weather" game.

With the one caveat being that a wet, slippery turf (with footing difficulties) can hinder a running attack. Fortunately, Ross' running style should make him an excellent "mudder".

We brought our seat cushions into TCU's stadium without hassle for the Armed Forces Bowl last year. Don't know why they wouldn't let you.

Though with much less at stake, I am fervently trying to channel Group Captain Stagg, author of perhaps the most famous and most consequential weather forecast of the 20th century, who on June 5, 1944 correctly foresaw an improvement -- slight and short-lived, but just enough -- in the weather for the following day.

The drive from Dallas was horrible. I hit an ice patch and almost spun out of control. I am glad to be in Houdton in one piece. My driving in Canada helped me with this.

I think one of the gates was lax. We got in with ours and then got stopped in the concourse. They let us keep them on the promise that we put them under the seat and not use them 01-wingedeagle

I was very disappointed with the folks in Ft. Worth last year. My nearly 80 year old parents had to give up the seat cushions they brought (Dad has some tough back problems), then had a real hassle getting them back after the game. Didn't make us want to go back and we're hoping for a different Owl bowl venue this year

Walking through a parking lot in Houston today around lunchtime, my weather app said it was 37 degrees but felt like 23. I believed it. Gametime weather appears to be more of the same.

I had the opposite experience. When I was out today in a tee shirt and fleece I thought it was pretty mild. I am bringing my heavy jacket tomorrow, however.

Go Owls!

I ran this morning around 6:15, still a little dark, 40 F, no idea on wind chill. I was dressed well, and it was only bad when running into the wind. Once I got a little sweat going, it wasn't bad, and I drove home with the window rolled down for the first 4 minutes.

Unfortunately, there's a big difference in running and sitting in wind.

I was colder (and not as warmly dressed) at noon (43 F) standing at the ticket window getting my tickets.

Really hoping for sun and no rain.

One of you may have noticed that, as part of the historical reference, I made "Go" its own sentence.
