Appologize to any poster who you have insulted because Scott Farmer indeed tell the I-Bowl to screw themselves. We could have had the opportunity to play an AQ school and our administration would rather party in New Orleans that improve the program.

To stAte, WKU, Texas St, Troy, hell even ULM I welcome all the hate spewed our way because it is deserved criticism. Our administration continually screws the pooch and I for one have had about enough of their lies and deceit.

Geaux, we all know Farmer is a clown but he is simply a puppet of Dr. Savoie. The decision not to talk to the I-Bowl was his alone. Now I have complained about our administration on this board and a number fans including ASU fans thought it entertaining. Now that UL has made this decision, I don't feel the need to appologize to anyone because I haven't disrespected ASU period. The Sun Belt is a joke starting with the by-laws and Benson as the commissoner. ASU was never willing to admit that fact and now we are responsible for the poor bowl opportunities of this conference? In spite of our own administrations stupidty, its time ASU fans grow up and realize the SBC is a joke and blaming UL doesn't change that fact.

We have tried hard to be loyal to our conference and highlight its positives. But this incident may have moved stAte fans over to the dark side with Lafayette.

Well I'm glad Arkansas State@Jonesboro has put down its pom poms and joined reality!04-rock

Hiding the conference bylaws from public view when questioned on them by a reporter is not the move of a professionally run sports organization.

Please bless my good no great friends at ASU with a bowl game this year. They are guaranteed to finish no less than second in the conference and still have a legitimate chance of being co-champs. Please don't look at there overall record or there OC losses. I know you didn't grant one of our second place teams, MTSU a bowl last year but please make the exception for our friendship is at stake. If this doesn't happen a few of there fans will leave the conference. I know I'm just a fan with no control of what happens but I'm calling on you to help a friend in need and to prove my loyalty to A-State. I know most of us out side of Troy would be happy to have two championship rings but the bowl game means more to them. The reason I've come to you is because the Cajuns are accused of not supporting our friends and that's not true. Please anything you could do would help, I-bowl, Potato Bowl, Pizza bowl, Beef Bowl or any other bowl you may have lying around would help thanks in advance. Signed one Cajun fan on his own not the Cajun fan base.

Too funny. I don't think we are out of the bowl picture just yet. For every fan, its about instant gratification and what have you done for me lately. I don't know if your admin gave the Indy the Heisman or not but UL needs to do what is best for UL. Every other team/school would do the same. If we ever get a bowl in LR or the Liberty picked a SBC team, stAte would get first chance. That's just the way it is.

The power of prayer it worked I hope that mean we're ok with A-State fans

I think it's quite an assumption to think that the conference is a professionally run sports organization.

This is false, the I bowl could not have put an offer on the table until after the SEC championship, they are contractually obligated to the ACC and SEC. The Cajuns would be rolling the dice and most likely would miss out on NOLA and IBowl and for what? So wku can get in? Ibowl will take any program from a power5 before us. We are the fat girl at 2am...the backup plan. The Ibowl is upset that we wouldn't be their backup plan. They should have thought of that in 2008 when they took a 6-6 niu over us. Benson wanted us to wait do he could beat his chest about getting 3 teams in. Let's face it, the Cajuns and ASU would be picking up the tab for the 3rd team anyway. 95% chance we wait, ASU is in Nola and we end up in mobile. We rather NOLA and so would you, can't fault us for that. There was never an Ibowl offer on the table. We had an Ibowl off as much as Latech had a liberty bowl offer last year.

Don't blame you a bit.

The I-Bowl seems to have put itself at a disadvantage in hopes of getting the ACC/SEC matchup. I-Bowl has missed out on LaTech/ULL/ASU having to wait.

Exactly, they are the ones that rather be associated with bottom dwellers of power5 than the top of the G5. I think the Ibowl has been in damage control the last couple years after latech telling them to wait and The Cajuns not wanting to wait...how dare we turn our nose to the mighty Ibowl. I promise you if there was an contract to sign on the table from the Ibowl that we would play an ACC team, we would have taken it instantly. After not going to a bowl for 40 years we are not in a position "to wait and see". The bowls are all about money and they will lie, lobby and do anything to make the most. Nobody really knows what goes on behind the closed doors. All I know for certain, is there was no offer on the table from Ibowl.

The Ibowl just needs to go ahead & be affiliated with the SBC.

Looks like CUSA sneaked in before Sun Belt did with backup agreement through 2019....Kind of reminds me of the MAC sneaking in and grabbing all other backup agreements from Sun Belt.....

And when cusa doesn't have enough bowl eligible teams?? Or latech tells them to wait again? The Ibowl needs to get its nose out the sir...it's not near the prestige it used to be.

We have no offer because UL told them they were accepting the NO Bowl and Notre Dame wasn't completely off the table. To say had we waited one week, UL would be left out in the cold is not correct, the Sun Belt By-Laws state that the champion or co-champions must be placed in a bowl. Do you actually think the NO Bowl was not going to wait one week while Benson was negotiating with the Independence with a sure bet of breaking the attendance record and cashing in? It is irrelevant now, but let's not continue this ongoing myth that UL was going to be left out in the cold.

RE: UL-L Turned Down Independence Bowl?
I agree there was little chance the Cajuns would be left out in the cold by waiting a week. They've produced too much money for the NO Bowl for that bowl not to have waited an additional week.

Don't know the timetable on how all of this supposedly went down, but I suspect the Cajun loss to ULM and the injury to Broadway might have played a role as well in the final decision-making process.

As it stands right now, I believe the NO Bowl is the best place the Cajuns can be THIS YEAR which gives me some encouragement that someone is thinking clearly during the runup to final bowl decisions.

Let's see what next year brings.

Just because you have the red arse for the Independence Bowl, it's good business to at least let the two bowls bid against each other. I certainly don't blame our administration for taking the sure thing, but from a financial standpoint, It would have been nice to see what offer they were willing to put on the table.

As for being happy sit your arse in the climate controlled dome 2 hours from my house with 45k cajun fans, I hope you have no part in any future bowl decisions or anyone that thinks like you. No other bowl outside of New Orleans can accomodate Cajun fans in that manner, so you like many Cajun Fans will just not be interested in attending a better bowl game outside of New Orleans. Small time thinking for small time fans!

In this instance yes, I rather the dome. I don't want be anyone's pawn. If there would be an offer from Ibowl take it...I do stuff for fun in colder weather than most of you will walk to your car in. We were never going to go to Ibowl. The PAC 12 is way over on bowl eligible teams. It's possible they still fill with sec. On another year when bowl eligible teams are looking thin I might be willing to hedge my bet. I'm all in on us not getting Ibowl...I'm all in on them taking any P5 over us, which brings us to the godaddy on a Sunday outdoors against bowling green on same week of nfl playoffs and bcs championship. Or, New Orleans on Saturday night in the dome. I'll take the dome every time. If niu was in mobile them I'll take it. If a ranked kent state like last year I'll take it. Beating bowling green or beating Tulane does the same for national perception. However, we recruit New Orleans, we recruit against Tulane. I have never seen is go against bowling green in recruiting. Benson was dangling the Ibowl carrot so he could get 3 teams in and be the hero. Ibowl dangled the carrot bc we are the perfect fall back plan. Why should we put our best interests on hold for everyone else?

The Cajuns decided to not take the Ibowl and went ahead with the NObowl. The Cajuns are only looking out for themselves and do not care about the conference. It wouldn't hurt the Cajuns to drive a few miles North to help out the rest of the conference.

At what point did I say get left out? But give up Nola for mobile to be the Ibowl's backup backup plan? As soon as we would have agreed to wait...asu would have got Nola and godaddy would have been our backup plan. So everyone gets what they want but is. I am all game for attending the best bowl possible. However this notion that we should accept a bowl bid due to highest payout is no longer relevant in this league. All bowl related revenue is split among member schools after all the expenses of teams bowling teams are reimbursed. UL only took $40k last year after shattering Nola bowl ticket sales records. our administration should choose a bowl based on what the coaches/players want then what the fans desire.

As for this whole I-bowl debate, I say screw them. Not for one second do I believe that they desire a match up that is good for ticket sales in lieu of a good tv match up. They screwed UL over in 2006 for NIU. Now tell me how does that line of thinking back up the notion that care about tickets sales over TV ratings..

Actually, I think bowl revenue is split with only the teams participating in bowls, not the whole conference.

You guys cannot be serious if you think Notre Dame is going to Shreveport Lousiana...If that was their only option they would sit at home....

Depends on the opponent. Getting one that would be acceptable will be difficult though.
