Not entirely true, many in-state rivalries are cross-conference (in the southeast at least).

EDIT: I do see your point though, seems like you'd have to move mountains to get an in-state rivalry going.

Very true. I know we are trying to set up an extended series with UTSA. It probably wouldn't start until 2018 or 2019 though since UTSA has a lot of future OOC games set.

I agree-App should not be in Nov. My point was it doesn't matter when we play App they will still be our biggest rival - not the start up in a rented stadium.

We've had a few games in that series that have made it a little better.

MTSU was an awful rivalry. Maybe had it not been so one sided it would have been better but also why is some team in Tennessee suddenly our rival? It was forced and felt forced the whole time. 5 dollar trophy.

USA has potential but it doesn't really feel like one yet. Neither of our football programs have been relevant since USA started football. We have some good baseball games and I'd say those are the closest to a rivalry game we have gotten.

I agree with most of what you said. I couldn't care less about the UAB rivalry. UAB is a dying football team. Especially after this season where they have the second lowest attendance in FBS and their drudging by a horrible Southern Miss team last weekend. Our "rivalry" with UAB needs to die with their football team.

MTSU was an awful rivalry. It was very forced.

As far as USA...how could that game this year where we came from behind at the last second not piss off USA fans? It's not a rivalry yet...but it's growing. That fight for the baseball championship last season helped as well. I want USA as our hated rival. I just don't hate them yet.

I also want a secondary rivalry with Georgia Southern. It does make sense to have a rivalry with them. We have so many alumni in South Georgia. We also get a good amount of our players from that area too which will lead to some recruiting battles. I think both fan bases will travel well to each others stadium. It makes total sense to have them as a rival. And living in Georgia myself...I already dislike their fan base. 01-lauramac2

Our series with Troy is only 2 games old. Let it get a few games in, let it decide if one of us wins the conference, which is why it needs to be on the last weekend. Let USA take Troy to the woodshed one time. Our rivalry on the football field is very new and fans are just learning how to deal with it.

The baseball series should be good this year though.

I think ULL vs. ASU is developing into a rivalry we have a long history....but I also enjoy the ASU / Troy and the ULM series (ULM is the closest for us). I could see an ASU vs. TSU becoming a big game too.

Like others have said the history is not long enough to have developed long term rivalries.

I love our rivalry with Georgia Southern. It was built entirely on hard fought wins and losses in games that mattered in the race for conference championships. That's one of the things I'm looking forward to most in the SBC, finding out who we have the closest series with and seeing what rivalries develop as we try to climb our way up the conference pecking order.

The rivalry that is ULL-USA could heat up some on Saturday if we were to win and force them to share their conference championship. That's the best we can do this season.

Boone in the winter is great, when you are planning on skiing. Not sure how I would like sitting in that cold for a ball game. However, as long as you dress for it, no big deal, people sit in colder for games at a lot of other places.

And Boone is just a great place anyway. Can't wait to make it up there of a road game.

When I was attending South in the late 90's, nothing was more important than beating the Cajuns in baseball.
