This event has gathered over 500 attendees literally overnight, the vast majority of them students. Very good is an understatement.

Also, it was created by a freshman. Good to see the young'uns show some spirit.

700+ now.

It's a Facebook event. Take any numbers with a grain of salt.

Up to public party event numbers in 1 day! I understand it is just a facebook event but the amount of student support online is pretty encouraging to me. Most weeks only a few students know we even have a home game. In the 6 football seasons since I matriculated the largest student section I ever saw was the first game of 2008 against SMU on ESPN (maybe 750 students?). I hope we can exceed that with the stakes being much higher in this game despite the weather forecast. This seems to be the level of excitement I've seen when playing A&M or UT.

I know alumni who only graduated a year or two ago who are making arrangements to fly in for this game. I hope they really hype this up on campus over the next week.

Per the other thread on the subject, donations have already come in to purchase 1,075 and counting free student tickets. We're hoping to get close to $20,000 in donations to subsidize (at no cost to the students) 4,000 free tickets.

Four tickets printed. I am getting requests from friends who came to a regular season game on my extra season tickets, and I expect more to tag along by Saturday despite the weather.

Ambitious. I like it. Even if there aren't 4,000 students who know the rules of football at Rice!

I'm making plans to attend. Wish I could have made the Tulane game.

I'm kind of glad that I saw that Christian Covington confirmed that he is going to the event.

I just hope it's as a player. 04-jawdrop

I will be there [with wife!] sitting in the corner of the upper deck southwest side where Coach Neely told me was the best vantage point when I was 12 years old. I never start a game w/o being there ! Rice fight never die!

Judging by the ticket availability on the website, ticket sales might be up to 2k (including the 1075 donated to the students)

I'll be there. In The Roost. Drinking beer despite the chilling winds and cold drizzle.

Are you sure? Do we know that beer is allowed at the conference championship?

The roads will be icy and treacherous from the Metroplex down to Houston. It may be raining and cold during the game making it a miserable experience. I will be there no matter what. I wouldn't miss this if it was -40C!
