RE: Bowl qualifying
The best possible thing that could happen to the SBC next week outside of the Rutgers and SMU games would be NIU losing to Bowling Green. That would mean there was no BCS buster, and the PAC 12 would place an extra in the BCS for sure, meaning they have only one extra...which might open something up for us.

Otherwise...we place two.

Take a closer look at the BCS rankings. The Big 12 has a better chance of placing 2 than does the PAC 12. And as much as ESPN is talking up Wisconsin so much, it would not be surprising to see them move into position to steal a spot.

I have. The point is...as it is, there is no way the Pac 12 will place two because the SEC, ACC, and Big 10 or Big 12 will in addition to NIU. An NIU loss gives the PAC 12 a legit chance instead of no chance.

RE: Bowl qualifying
Syracuse won today. There are now 77 bowl eligible teams with three possibles remaining.

ACC has two extra.. PAC 12 likely has two extra unless they can place a 2nd BCS. We're getting two folks.

SBC is not completely dead in Indy. But rather than being a sure thing, its not more like a 5 percent chance that involves no open PAC 12 teams being available.

With ULM eligible, if it is an SBC team, who do they pick?

One of us.

The story from what I have is that ULL turned down the I Bowl on Monday. Once the Cajuns turned them down, the sponsors and the ACC are pushing to get an open PAC 12. If that PAC 12 is available, we're doomed. If one is not available, then it falls back to the Sun Belt. That means either ASU or ULM.

I've tried my best to be supportive of this conference. It has the potential of being a very strong football conference, but the operations of the Sun Belt is so bush-league. If we become the co-champs or even placed 2nd place in the conference and still get left out in the cold, then we need to GTFO fast! Being conference co-champs and not getting a bowl would be devastating for our recruiting.

RE: Bowl qualifying
We send two.

BOB will take a MAC
Poinsettia will take a MAC
LCPB will take an ACC
HOD will take an ACC
Indy will take a PAC 12
Texas will take a PAC 12

The only legit hope would revolve around Oregon State staying home, and opening one Bowl slot for the G5's to fight over.

Every G5 League will have at least one team sitting at home that is eligible. MAC and SBC will have multiples. Ohio and WKU will be the only non 6-6 teams to miss out.

Poinsettia-Army's spot
Independence-SEC spot

Bowl selection show is tomorrow night @ 8 p.m. on ESPN. It's a 2 hour show, so all the bowls will be talked about, with very little emphasis on the small ones.

The open Bowl slot was the Pinstripe Bowl, which Notre Dame filled.

I purposefully did not list the Pinstripe because I already knew Notre Dame had accepted the spot, thus it was not open. I listed the Texas Bowl because either Oklahoma State or Oklahoma will probably take one of the BCS at-large spots, thus freeing that spot for someone else. While it's possible that Oregon or Arizona State may get one of the BCS at-large spots, Oklahoma may be seen as a more viable candidate, as they have momentum coming into the post season. We'll see.

RE: Bowl qualifying
With the ACC and Pac 12 having two extra teams each (assuming Oklahoma over Oregon for BCS), that takes up four of the six open slots. The MAC has the backup in St Pete, eliminating another. That leaves one final slot for the final MWC team, the MAC and SBC teams, and FAU. Which bowl ends up being the one that doesn't get an ACC or Pac 12 team is the mystery. I'd say it's likely to be either Poinsettia or Independence.

Until its a done deal, you just can't say that. As it stands now, that bowl isn't open. The at-large spots go to teams that sell a lot of tickets or create a match-up. There are countless instances where four or five teams with higher rankings were passed over for another team.
