FedEx has announced the largest of its kind in all of college NIL for Memphis...Also the 220 million renovation of Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium...No one in our way in G5 from keeping us getting into CFP and making bigger things happen...Plus we are working with more of our Fortune 500 companies to make it bigger, plus we have Ford and Blue Oval Coming....So maybe if FSU and Clemson leave, then the ACC brings in Memphis and SDSU....GTG...what you guys think...

Yes to bouf.
The B12 is the best bet for Memphis. Pray that that conference gets raid.
The ACC is more likely to add academically elite or AAU schools like Tulane and USF. If Az ASU Utah Col or Kansas went to the ACC, it would open up a spot in the B12 for Memphis.
Tim Pernetti, the New AAC commissioner, has some big ideas for the new AAC...HE is not wanting labels big wants to take Big Swings...HE is looking into brining in Private Equity, BIGGER NIL for conference and making it a real business model...HE IS EVEN GONNA look at maybe making athletes employees. Let's face it, it's the future of the landscape, so might as well get the true value of of the teams underpaid, and get real market value, and get the business model rolling...Sooner or Later schools without larger companies, Private Equity, Sponsorships tied to them won't last in the future college landscape...Memphis i hope gets to ACC or Big 12..BUT AAC some some cool ideas with Private Equity and things he brought up...

Borrowing big money to pay NIL. What could go wrong?

Did FedEx also change the academic mission and dump $1 billion into academics? If not, the ACC ain't happening.

Memphis has ACC worthy FB and BB but I think USF and SDSU where we look next. Tulane possibly too. We'll see...lots of ACC drama to play out first.

SHODDY AT BEST

Yikes ....

Just googled this and saw headlines -- 2 dead, 6 wounded.

Based on the number of shots you can hear in that video, it's super lucky it's not a higher number.

As far as the University of Memphis goes --- that FedEx announcement made me think that DJ Wagner was on his way.

If only Memphis had rallied that kind of corporate support 25 years ago --- they'd probably already be in a Power 4 home.

.
Out of State room and board at U of Memphis is only 32K a year. That cost is 57K a year in Blacksburg, It's 59K in Clemson. It's about 50K at GT. It's 52K at NC State.

FSU has extremely low tuition, fees, and board at $38K for an out of State student.

With 200 athletes a $25,000 advantage over the public schools in the ACC is $5 m a year. The advantage over the private school is about $8,000,000 a year. Double such athletes and you double the descreprenecy. GTAA, Wolfpack Club, Rams Club, Iron Dukes, IPTAY, UVa, VT, Pitt, etc., have no incentive to invite competitors who cost of competition is substantially less than the conference average.

USF by the way is about $37K for out of state.
Thing is, thanks to FSU, Tim Pernetti the new AAC commish is looking at Private Equity, and Fortune 500 companies, and possibly making athletes Employees..It is the future of college, already heading that way...Dartmouth already looking to Unionize, and Tim Pernetti and his manage team will look at that and talk to the players of the conference and possibly getting those wheels spinning...When schools who don't have the large companies and sponsorship are gonna eventually have a harder time as it goes more to what it already is, Professionalism.....
The ACC would benefit from adding Memphis, but the academic-minded schools will probably have to leave first before it will ever happen. They held their nose when they okayed the admission of Louisville. I doubt they would do it again for Memphis.

That would pretty much be everybody, wouldnt it. At that point the ACC wouldnt exist, nor would it be worth joining if it did.

No, oddly enough, it wouldn't. Stanford and Cal are the top two and they would probably have no issue with Memphis joining since they need the ACC to stay afloat until they can find a way into the B1G. I'm sure Notre Dame would be okay with it too if it means keeping their status quo. SMU would probably welcome the Tigers too. I know Louisville wouldn't mind having the Tigers.

I'm talking about Duke, WF, Miami, UNC, and Georgia Tech. Pitt, NC State, Syracuse, and VT may or may not hold their nose...but probably would rather not have Memphis. Florida State isn't an academic school so they don't count, plus they don't care as they are on their way out and the same for Clemson.

Chances are higher that the ACC gets raided so that is where their prayers will be. (Though I'm still hesitant to guarantee that). Still, there is a far greater chance of the ACC grabbing Memphis than the Big 12, especially with the Pac-12 schools joining and raising the Big 12's academic profile and standards.

You're asking for an awful lot of lifting from the non-party side of Arizona State aren't you?

The ACC has the highest average of the P4 conferences regarding academic profiles. That average will only get better if Clemson and FSU leave the conference. When Cal and Stanford comes in there will be even greater separation. Even with the Pac10 programs coming into the B12, that league will still be fighting the SEC for last place among the P4 in academics. Memphis fits in much better with the B12 than the ACC and its not close. A lot of bad things would have to happen to the ACC for the ACC to want to invite Memphis. I dont see those bad things happening.

Congratulations, Memphis Tigers!

Memphis looks good in either M2 league. It's a great town to visit. Easy access by air or road. Convenient mid-South location for B12 and the new bicoastal ACC.
Now FSU and the Florida AG has filed on behalf of FSU and it only a matter of when they and Clemson are out...FedEx along with more big companies in Memphis are gonna join the Memphis NIL investment and really step it up a notch...We have alot going on, and are bringing it...Will have to see how it plays out...
