Looks like the Rockets have their 1st commit for '25 in 6'2 195 S Tyler Hackenbracht, Massilon Washington HS. Only other offer I see immediately is from BGSU.

I watched his Hudl film and he plays mean. Every hit is personal. He handles punt returns for MWHS and plays S. Definitely a good sized safety who has great speed N-S and E-W. He really chases down ball carriers. Supports run very well.

No info posted yet on recruiting sites.

Interesting first commit. He'll certainly get more offers.

Go Rockets!
Story from the Canton Repository on the Hackenbracht commitment. Apparently he is Vinny Sciury's cousin.

Great ! Let's hope Rockets get another All MAC performer. Obviously you can even achieve All-American status @UT.

Fixed that issue. Although a rating probably won’t come any time soon.
Tyler Hackenbracht
Thanks Coach....

Can you please write a short return message and explain how Rivals evaluates players and what is general system for doing so? Who covers what region? Is there a std. system used for evaluation, etc. I would certainly find it interesting.

Thanks again.

Go Rockets!

That’s a great question. I’ve asked this myself and haven’t received a clear response. Most of the evaluators at all of the recruiting services do not have any football experience, which is mind boggling to me. As far as Rivals goes, the Midwest analyst for the past couple of years actually did have experience and coached at the college level. Unfortunately, he recently left the company. Many of the 3 star MAC signees were then downgraded to 2 stars after he left. Frustrating as I thought most of the players were absolutely deserving of their 3 star rating.

The prospects that attend Rivals camps will receive ratings and many colleges will actually pay Rivals for camp film. I know the analysts try to see all the prospects in person, and especially the 4 and 5 star players even if they do not attend the camps, but a number of players will be evaluated off film and the offers they hold.

In essence a 2 star at Rivals equals a low 3 star for the other recruiting services. The other services have made a smart business decision in rating darn near every prospect a 3 star. The other services also have site ease of use to their advantage as Rivals system is from the early 2000s. Doesn’t necessarily mean there is more coverage, but there are more features.

I think all sites are barely keeping afloat with the portal ratings as there just doesn’t seem to be enough man power to accurately rate players in a short period of time and we’re seeing a wide range of ratings that don’t always make sense.

I try to make sure the MAC recruits get their due, which is why the Rivals database will always be up to date when it comes to the MAC as compared to the other services. Unfortunately, I have no control over the ratings.

Thank you much. A very interesting response. Hopefully all these sites stay afloat as they are very interesting even to the casual fan and super interesting to the team specific die-hard fan. I think the portal has hurt some HS recruiting interest because teams cannot hold onto players any longer. However; UT's portal turnover is low so HS recruiting ranking are still super critical to UT fans since we are a developmental type program and keeping guys in-house for 3 to 5 years is crucial.
Adding the new commit reported by Babes Boy in this thread: https://csnbbs.com/thread-986963.html

6'4 QB Walter Moses, Perry HS, OH
Offers from BG, Kent, Akron, UConn, Coastal Carolina, Arkansas St, Marshall

https://247sports.com/player/walter-moses-46140536/

Might be time to pin this thread along with the other recruiting ones.

Our last 2 small school QB recruits didn't pan-out. Let's hope Moses' talents equate to DI. Both were top 100 3 stars rated by 247 but certainly not highly rated by Rivals

Caleb Martin 2017 Ft Recovery OH transferred to Tiffin.... not sure if he started there or not. I believe he did for at least 1 season.... comments?
?? Austin? Davis approx 2012? 4 x MI state champ D6 don't believe he ever made it to campus. Not sure if he ever played college b all

Moses is interesting in that his athleticism is highly visible from videos. He makes some throws that are simply hard to make no matter who is on D. I'm sure that's been noticed. I wonder if he has worked out in front of coaches. I would think he camped last summer before his Jr. season. If he's geographically this close to UT and this hyped on our program then he would have surely camped last year.
How long do we keep these threads pinned at the top....some a little stale, or is that resource for reference...honest question

This is the '25 thread that should be pinned at the top based on how we've done things in the past. NC puts a lot of effort into maintaining the recruiting data. Babes Boy just missed this thread when he posted a few days ago. I always appreciate his recruiting input.

Yes I certainly did miss the original post. I’ll try to do better. There is certain a lot of good information posted on this board and I appreciate being part of it

Yes this needs to be addressed. Our home page is turning into an eye sore as you have to scroll longer than usual to get to the latest thread. Let's unpin all the old recruiting threads and just keep this year's thread up here, no?

And why is the "Maybe Candle and Coach K aren’t so safe" in the Important Threads section?
Commit from S Bradley Martino, Golden Gate HS, Naples, FL
Lots of Pwhatever offers including MSU, Illinois, NC State, Pitt and BC

https://www.hudl.com/profile/16224045/Bradley-Martino
https://247sports.com/Player/bradley-martino-46143582/
Martino is a significant recruit.

full time 2-way starter at WR/S/CB. Anywhere between 6'2" & 6'4". Tall by any std for a DB.

Collier Cty. player of the year

Silky smooth big play receiver with long stride and home run potential. Averaged 23 yards per catch.

Cover a lot of territory playing S. Big pass break-up perimeter.

Lot's of big offers. Sees the payday Q is getting and decided to jump on board. Hope we can keep him. A very nice verbal for UT.
A little curious as to why On3, 24/7 and Rivals never have the same number of recruits? On3 has one, 24/7 has two and rivals has Toledo with three

I think the AD SID releases info at same time to all services but their reaction time & organization is another thing. Not sure the Massillon kid is a true scholarship commit or not. Even though he tweeted he was committed I don't think he is. His latest tweets make me think otherwise. He's also been offered by Miami, BG, and OU. We definitely have Moses & Martino as true 100% scholarship commits.

Thank you. Something I believe that 24/7 did different this year was add the portal commits to the regular commitment total.
