Was a pleasant surprise to read the Final AP Poll today and see SMU at #22. I look forward to being an asset to the ACC next year. Congrats to all the players and coaches of Florida State, Louisville, Clemson, and NC State for their successful Top25 football seasons.

SMU has the potential to be a powerhouse. The ACC is very fortunate to have the Ponies!

I was very happy to see this - for two reasons.

1. You guys are a class program that had a great season. The ranking is well deserved!

2. It makes BC's Fenway Bowl victory even more meaningful 04-cheers

Looking forward to having you folks in the ACC next year!

Welcome!

Believe it or not, some of us on this board discussed about SMU as a potential candidate for a long time. I am glad it worked out for SMU and the ACC.
Cheers!04-cheers

If you like steak fajitas, then go to La Hacienda Ranch when in Dallas. Theirs are really good, plus they invented the frozen margarita back in the day.

I'm definitely having a double double animal style at In-N-Out by campus
The @CFBPlayoff meeting has wrapped in Dallas. CFP exec director Bill Hancock said they have reached a compromise on SMU’s revenue distribution. Commissioners made a recommendation to the board for SMU to receive “a fair accommodation” but not the full P5 amount.
I’m all in ! Having owned a lot of Mustangs over the years and still own 2 today I’ve secretly followed the SMU Mustangs for years
From Heather Dinich,
“The 11 presidents and chancellors who control the playoff must still unanimously approve SMU's revenue distribution for the next two years, which are the final two seasons of the current 12-year contract. SMU will eventually receive the full share when the new contract is done.”
CFP agrees on SMU revenue distribution; less than full Power 5 allotment

The College Football Playoff management committee unanimously agreed upon an undisclosed amount of money for incoming ACC member SMU that will go to the conference, but it's still less than the revenue the CFP typically distributes to Power 5 schools, CFP executive director Bill Hancock said Monday.

The 11 presidents and chancellors who control the playoff must still unanimously approve SMU's revenue distribution for the next two years, which are the final two seasons of the current 12-year contract. SMU will eventually receive the full share when the new contract is done.

"I think everybody in the room felt like it was a fair accommodation," Hancock said. "They've spent a long time talking about it -- over three meetings."

The decision is significant because in the past, schools that made the leap from a Group of 5 conference to a Power 5 league also saw an increase in CFP revenue from roughly $1 million to $6 million. In 2022, the CFP voted to give full Power 5 revenue to incoming Big 12 schools UCF, Cincinnati, Houston and BYU. SMU and the ACC were under the impression they would get the same.

Hancock declined to say specifically what the monetary agreement was, and ACC commissioner Jim Phillips declined to comment after the meeting, as did SMU athletic director Rick Hart.

My guess they are getting 4M this year(24-25) and 5M next(25-26).... Then when the new CFP contract is done SMU gets full slice! (26-27)
RE: The CFP SMU revenue distribution. The only difference here between SMU and the B12 adding Cincy/HOU/UCF/BYU recently is that the B12 was reacting to member losses, vs. SMU simply being an add?
And Wash St. or Oregon St. would not see a similar impact (for the time being) if they were to move to B12/ACC?
I guess by design, that seems pretty consequential to the prospects of any other future call ups.
Nothing says "no more G5 call-ups" like partial CFP payouts... Congratulations to the Mustangs for catching the last helicopter out of Saigon!
