I know we are only 2 games into league season, but by looking at the following results from yesterday’s games, you got to wonder if these teams who have frequented the top of the Standings are as good as their predecessors:

*Kent State blowing a large second half lead and losing at EMU 71-69 to fall to 8-6

*Buffalo lost at home to Western Michigan 82-77 to fall to a disastrous 2-12.

*Ball St losing at home to Central Michigan 71-65 to fall to 8-6.

Even Toledo (8-6) and Ohio U (8-6) who won close games at home over the weekend do not look as stellar as past seasons. While we have a long way to go to sort things out, it looks like Akron with two of the best players in the league (Freeman & Ali) leading the way is the best team overall by far. With that said, Toledo has an opportunity to position itself as the next best team over the next 16 games and get to Cleveland where anything can happen as we have painfully found out the past 3 seasons plus!
Agree, it’s Akron and everyone else this year.

Overall MAC basketball has NEVER been this bad.
You've got 5 of the Top 10 with 3-5 losses this early in the season. Just seem there aren't that many truly dominant programs this year.

Big roster loses by Toledo (The Big 3), Kent St (Cary & Jacobs), Ball St (Coleman, Sellers, and Sparks), and Ohio U (Wilson) have obviously impacted their performance this year. Buffalo is just a complete "dumpster fire" this year. On the other side, you got EMU being much better chemistry wise without Bates and Farrakan, BG better with a new coach and some big time scoring additions, and Akron with the addition of Ali to an already very good and deep roster.

Echo that second part big time, we are as a conference, as bad as we have ever been. Hardly any good victories out of conference, the best team coming into conference play was BGSU, who played NOBODY (including Ohio Dominican and Siena Heights). Buffalo has one D1 win, we dropped a stinker vs vermont, and on and on it goes. That being said, it means we have a good a chance as ever in Cleveland.
