Until 2008, the cannon sat in the south end zone of the Glass Bowl until Toledo cornerback Desmond Marrow fell into the thing and suffered a concussion. It was just one in a line of injuries and errors for Marrow, who started Friday for the first time in two years.
Marrow missed the 2007 season with a hamstring injury. The concussion was the least of his worries in 2008; a month after running into the cannon, he tore the ACL and meniscus in his left knee, costing him the rest of the season and all of 2009.
