I don't know anything about this player but I will say that if coach Burno recruited him he is likely a promising player. I have watched most of the games this year and the players on this team are noticeably bigger, thicker and stronger than what NIU has had in the pre Burno era. Additionally this team has better depth than past squads.
NIU basketball is once again fun to watch and if I can believe my lying eyes this year's team can compete for a MAC Championship. Hopefully Jayden Mott is the type of player that can sustain our recent progress.

NIU is his only offer but that isn't out of the ordinary for Coach Burno. With that said, I found a few short videos of him on his Hudl page. He's lanky but built and athletic. A good jumper.
Seems active but there's another kid on the team who has the same hair as him and with the quality of the video, sometimes I get the two confused.
Either way, he's a big athletic body and seems like if Burno is interested in him, he's got a plan and has a vision for him.
With that said, barring any transfers, I think we only have 2 scholarships to offer next year (1 now that Mott is signed). And we currently have 3 walk-ons on the roster. I'm not overly optimistic that either Tipton or Amari will get scholarships but I do wonder about a guy like Gogić. He's an international player who has good size and, from the video I've seen of him, is quite athletic and seems to have potential. If he earns a scholarship, then we're full for next year.
Obviously adding a guy with Mott's size adds to our post and we are losing Ibarguen so, replacing him is pretty important for the roster.
Anyway...
Something of moderate interest I saw when looking at Mott's X page, there was a comment that I can't seem to find anymore from someone saying something along the lines of "I'm about to join you" or something like that. When I clicked on his page, it appeared to be a football player.
But now I'm frustrated because the comment isn't there anymore. If I can figure it out, I'll post an update.
