1 UGA - defending champs get the benefit of the doubt.

2 OSU - has probably the best 2 wins so far of any team.

3 FSU - correct me if I’m wrong, but FSU has beaten the point spread of all but the BC game, so they are continually under estimated and look to be getting better as the season progresses.

4 UW - great win vs Oregon and continues to win a good Pac12 conference.

5 Mich - play somebody already!

6 Oregon - narrowly losing to UW, continues to roll in a good Pac12.

The rest of the rankings will be a little dicey with Bama, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Texas, UL, PSU all with legitimate claims.

Georgia gets TOO MUCH CREDIT for what they did last year, IMO. But they do deserve a playoff berth. Michigan, OTOH, hasn't earned anything yet.
1. Georgia
2. FSU
3. Ohio State
4. Washington
If Oregon is 6 then Wash should be in the top 4. None of the current top 4 have a hallmark victory as good as Wash over Oregon.
Massey composite ranking has the top six as
1. Ohio State
2. Michigan
3. Florida State
4. Texas
-----
5. Washington
6. Oregon

NOTE: Not a single SEC team in the top 6; they have Alabama 7th and Georgia 8th.

The Massey Composite is just proof that “polls” are not a good way to determine champions. IMHO, the CFP committee is also a flawed mechanism for determining the top teams…but at least the CFP committee has the stated objective to select the best teams.

Moving to conference champions will be a good enhancement in the future. Regardless of whether it’s 6-6 or 5-7, rewarding conference champions is a better approach.

My current top 10 ranking would be:
1) Ohio State
2) Florida State
3) Washington
4) Georgia
5) Michigan
6) Oregon
7) Texas
8) Alabama
9) Penn State
10) Oklahoma
