Teddy Roosevelt would be awfully disappointed.

What an absolute joke.
This is actual bull****.

North Texas and UAB played for the last NIT title. That can’t happen, so no one gets in.
Automatic qualifiers for conferences unless given to every conference need to be gotten rid of period. Very bad of the NCAA to be adding them. Every conference and AD who is not in the 6 conferences getting these AQ's should be protesting right now.
Sometimes I am really glad I don't .really care for the NCAA or NIT. I want stAte to do very well but these tournaments are not really for schools like us. NCAA just said so. BTW if you are excited about the football playoff its not for us either. That will be plain too. I do like bowls. We can win those.
I imagine this is a test of the level of pushback they will get if they do this for the NCAA and/or the FBS playoffs. So the pushback needs to be huge to prevent the NCAA from continuing this and certainly to expanding this idea into other areas.
The march toward the eventual P2 system quickens a beat.

This is fact.
Another reason the conference tournaments have out-lived their usefulness .

Then the 20+ team conferences can play round-robin.
this would be a good time for the CBI (which is privately owned by Gazelle Group) to switch from it's 'pay to play' format so more name teams participate. They could become the 'new NIT' since the NCAA seems to be killing the real one.
Im wondering if they will pull the same stunt with the new womens tourney they announced.

This is the time for AD's and conference commissioners to be protesting this. Not finding bad ways to cope.

Or this is a message that it's already done.
Slowly but surely heading for the day where we're left out of all of the major competitions in the name of TV money.

Maybe they'll let us play in the baseball tournament because we appear to be good at that as a league.
I don’t know how they haven’t figured out casual fans watch these tournaments for the underdog upsets, not to see the 11th best ACC versus the 10th best Big Ten.

Pandering to the Power Conference cartel and the more established basketball conferences? Nothing surprising about that. Perhaps this move was motivated by the collapse of the PAC12 and realignment/consolidation of programs into the top four leagues (Big10, Big12, ACC and SEC).

SBC teams must work to collectively earn multiple bids to the NCAAT. If that can be done, the SBC NIT bid(s) will take care of themselves.
Hey y'all, let's just start our own tournament. Anyone go to a big church with a gym?
