The Democratic Taliban Party.
I can understand not having them in a park. There's no excuse for not putting them in museums. SMH

I'd say the same thing about a statue for any prominent hero or villain in history
Bet the new inclusive art piece gets vandalized a number of times. No doubt the plan will be to put it where the former REL statue was placed. Looks like statues of prominent confederate people will be seen at Civil War battle sites and museums only. Gettysburg has a beautiful statue of Lee on his horse (Trotter?).

Traveller. And it is a beautiful statue, yes.
Yeah, I'm not a fan of honoring confederates.

Robert E Lee was a traitor. Lincoln let them off too easy.
Some artist was commissioned to do this many moons ago as a little piece of history and people just melted it down in secret.

Weirdos.
Monuments Across Dixie

Look them up. Donate. They are doing a great thing

I was somewhat close :) Wife and I want to visit the Civil War battlefields in the upcoming years. Surprisingly seen more sites of the Revolutionary War than Civil War but hope to rectify that soon! Hell, even some sites related to the French and Indian War.

While I'm from a Union state myself I think it's a huge crime to destroy Confederate monuments. It's a part of OUR history and it's better for all of it to be preserved than to whitewash pieces of it. You don't learn and grow if the history isn't preserved in as objectively neutral a manner as possible.

Lincolin was more of a dicator than a president. Why do you think Obama cites Lincolin as his favorite president.

Why do you want to objectively neutralize that half our country rebelled against the USA so that they can keep people in slavery??? F that.

It shouldn't matter if you are from a union state anymore than it should for the weirdos who think it matters for some reason that they are from the south and cling to this stuff from a century and a half ago.

It's wrong to destroy historic art because you don't like it.

My family is from Kentucky. When the war broke out my GG Grandfather went with a northern unit while 2 of his brothers went with a southern unit. I can assure you slavery played no part in their decisions as none of them were wealthy enough to own slaves. The story that was passed down was my GG Grandfather didn't want to see the Union dissolve. I never heard what prompted his brothers to go the other way but at the time loyalty was more to the state people resided in rather than the United States. Not implying slavery didn't influence some to go one way or the other but the overwhelming majority of southern troops went the way of their state as that is where their loyalty was.

He suspended Habeus Corpus, cut telegraph wires, and had journalists who were critical of him arrested.

He didn't say that's where a Confederate statue s/ go. You don't believe in putting things of historical significance in museums?
