Just saw that the Holiday Bowl is going to be sponsered this year by DirecTV.

Seems a bit cruel that would be the case now for Pac 12 final year to have a bowl sponsored by DirecTV.
Interesting.

So what's going on with all the PAC bowl tie-ins in 2024? Does the Holiday Bowl have a backup plan with another conference or will it be a free agent?
A couple months ago Brett Mcmurphy speculated on the future of the PAC tie-ins

Here are the Pac-12 bowl matchups and his projected bowl tie-ins for 2024 and 2025:

Holiday Bowl (currently Pac-12 vs. ACC)
Projected Holiday Bowl: Big Ten or Big 12 vs. ACC

With the Holiday Bowl’s pending lawsuit against the Pac-12 seeking $3 million in damages, it's a virtual lock the San Diego-based Holiday Bowl will move on from the Pac-12, if able, after the 2023 season. With FOX as its TV partner, the Holiday could have an inside edge for either the Big Ten or the Big 12 against the ACC.

Sun Bowl (currently Pac-12 vs. ACC)
Projected Sun Bowl: Big Ten or Big 12 vs. ACC

Los Angeles Bowl (currently Pac-12 vs Mountain West champ)
Projected Los Angeles Bowl: Absolutely no clue, especially if the Pac-12 and Mountain West merge.

Alamo Bowl (currently Pac-12 vs. Big 12)
Projected Alamo Bowl: SEC or Big Ten vs. Big 12

Las Vegas Bowl (currently Pac-12 vs. SEC/Big Ten rotation)
Projected Las Vegas Bowl: Big 12 vs. SEC/Big Ten rotation)

According to Gronk, it will be Arizona vs somebody. Probably every year they're bowl-eligible but not in a major bowl if Gronk has his way.
I’m guessing all the tie-ins will depend on the fate of realignment. If the PAC-2 just merges with the MWC, it will be one thing. If the PAC-2 grabs four from the AAC and four from the MWC and nothing else happens (just for example), you’d have another setup.

So McMurphy expects the B12 gets three more bowl tie-ins after losing OK and TX? Hmmm

That projection is before the ACC expansion by the way. I am hoping the ACC gets another bowl tie-in, maybe Las Vegas bowl or LA bowl. I also think the SEC will get the Alamo bowl.
Why would Gronk want Arizona in his bowl? It’s an eight hour drive from their campus to SoFi.
Too bad they just can't say for 2024 and 2025.everybody is tied in to the conference you were in for 2023.

So that way Wash, Ore, USC, UCLA, Ariz, ASU, Utah, Col, Stan, Cal would be tied into the Pac-12 bowls for 2024 and 2025.

He played there. He likes them.

Sun Bowl should be kept with the PAC 12/MWC merger, and they could add UTEP. That way, you keep the bowl in house.

Holiday Bowl could be kept with the PAC 12 because of San Diego State.

LA Bowl could be kept if Long Beach State restarts football and join the PAC 12/MWC merger.

Alamo Bowl should go to the AAC because it is the home stadium for UTSA.

Las Vegas should revert back to the PAC 12/MWC merger. MWC schools have beaten P5 schools in that bowl.
I can't see the Big Ten or SEC agreeing to play any G5 conference except for the Big Ten playing the MAC in the Detroit bowl.

So the Las Vegas Bowl goes to Big 12 almost by default to play the Big Ten/SEC rotation. Unless they do something creative and just have the Big Ten play the SEC.

The Holiday Bowl seems like a good candidate for the Big Ten.

The Alamo seems like a good match for the SEC.

The LA Bowl might go to an ACC VS PAC/MWC format.

The Sun Bowl might go with an ACC VS Big 12 format.

Boise State, Fresno State, Washington State, UTSA, Tulane, UTEP, Hawaii, etc might be the schools that they may prefer to play against.

Who? The Big Ten or SEC? Maybe only because limiting to only G4 conferences limits the diversity available. On the other hand, all the G4 conferences will have 16-18 members now so there is plenty of teams to choose from.
FWIW, I think the Las Vegas Bowl will soon be B1G vs SEC, and the Sun Bowl will be B12 vs ACC.

We'll see.
