With the abysmal performance and preparation seen throughout the season, that was only magnified today.. who are some candidates you'd like to see to take over the helm?

Typically I would be hesitant to fire this early in the year, but Houston and Kirkpatrick's lack of accountability and obvious inability to develop talent. It was highly questioned as to why Garcia never got any reps in during the season last year and the question is only louder now after seeing him on the field for real. Why did they hype him up for so long, including this past summer after getting starter reps? Both Flinn and Garcia have been in the program forever.. and they pair seem inept to even be average at the position.

DK has the absolute worst offensive scheme I have ever seen. Without the tremendous talent to overcome his outdated and conservative approach.. it shows just how moronic his playcalling is. We can't drive it down the field and score if the defense or special teams doesn't gift us the ball in the better half of the field. It is an absolute shame that we have quite a stout defense that is only overworked and failed by the pitiful offense we have.

Houston this season has not own up to his faults and hasn't called it like he's seen it. There has been absolutely ZERO adjustments made and it has seemingly only got worse throughout the season. Maybe he thought he would be seeing greener pastures by now, but he has sure let this one dry up and die.

Hey atleast we have basketball season to look forward to.

100%, do whatever it takes
Satterfield
Barry Odom is making 1.75 at UNLV. Give him 2.5 million reasons to move to Greenville.
Want to trade HCs, ECU?
Out of all the fanbases in g5, especially in the region, ecu fans have treated us well. So I’m trying to show my appreciation to them by not being a clown online. I spent many a Saturday in my youth at Dowdy Ficklin.

But if ECU were to fire Mike Houston, I would be substantially happier than the happiest ECU fan.

Big win to start what hopefully will be a long and competitive series. Extra sweet it was a win on Mike Houston.

If I was the James Madison coach I wouldn't give up that job for ECU.
I know it seems bad right now, but Mike Houston is not the problem. He didn’t forget how to coach. This was always going to be a brutal year for you with all that you lost. Personally I think he deserves a year to see what he can do in the portal and a year of developing this team.

Tulane could have fired Fritz after 2-10 out of frustration. I’m glad we didn’t.
Please don’t fire him before Saturday!!!!
Wild that Houston will now probably have 3 seasons worse than Ruffin's worst season. And Houston still feels like a decent coach for ECU right now.

Tulane had extenuating circumstances during that 2-10 season due to a Hurricane that disrupted their ability to play and practice in New Orleans.

It's year 5, Houston has never stayed anywhere this long. He's always won with other coaches recruits then bolted for a better job. I'm convinced that was his plan for ECU, ride Holton and Keaton to a P5 job. Unfortunately a lack of special teams turned an 11-2 season into a 8-5 season. Now it's all his players, and it's the same offense he's ran for 5 seasons now. He had plenty of opportunities to play many of these guys last year including our 2 QB's but he ran Holton out there every game just about every snap. He's stubborn, he's bound come hell or high water to make this offensive scheme work, and ECU has never been the type of place that recruits the big uglies you need in the trenches to run this type of offense, at least not without NQ's which we can't take in the AAC.

Fritz on the other hand is the type of coach that will change his offensive scheme to suit the players he has. Houston hasn't shown that he is capable or willing to change anything about this scheme.
Rich Rod from Jacksonville St
Kerwin Bell from WCU. Budget will not be high having to pay Houston’s buyout.

Sounds great.

I'll drive the UHaul.
Go get G. J. Kinne from Texas State. That guy can coach.

You guys dealt with all the hurricane aftermath, dealt with Pratt having a shoulder injury all year, and you guys were actually semi close to being decent that year. Here were the close losses you guys had.

Oklahoma 40-35
A UAB team that went 9-4 28-21
UCF 14-10
Tulsa 20-13
Memphis 33-28

You guys averaged 27.5 ppg that season even with all your issues.

It's so much worse at ECU right now, by miles.

Don't worry, he's too stubborn to attempt to scapegoat the OC, he'll be there Saturday.
