For game comments. I think we squeak this one out in a win.
Looking for a big day from our defense! Going to need them to make some plays, and not just 'bend don't break' to win this one.

I thought in the CMU game it was surprising that it was kind of our defense and special teams that let us down (because they have both played so well this season), so maybe they make it up today and carry us to a victory!

Agree Sellers. Our Defense needs to carry us this game. They key will be hold their run game in tact. I thought I heard Helmer say something like NIU has a huge win percentage when Rocky throws under 25 attempts per game and the opposite when he throws over. The way to get him to throw is to get big stops on 1st down forcing them into long 2nd down situations where they throw. We need Price, Swindle and Merrit to have big games up front clogging the middle.

As for the Offense.....well... my wish list is the following...
1. Give up less than 5 or 6 sacks
2. Austin please use short throws with roll outs
3. Maybe EMU will try to use a Tight End?
Bullsh!t targeting.

Ridiculous. The roughing the passer was weak too.
Very unnecessary contact, but that has got to be the absolute weakest roughing the passer call I’ve ever seen. This is not going to be a fun game to watch

Huge mistake by Kline. They would have had to kick for 3. they scored a TD the next play. ouch!
We have to get a QB in the off-season.

Agree! Why on game 7 does Evan get the rock the majority of the calls? Should've been the entire season!
Very frustrating half, I fully expect a loss at this point. Can't let a team stick around when they are at home like we have.

Pleasently suprised that we came out and out-played them, but we should be up by 10 or so at half. I hate to put it on one guy, but Chase has completely screwed us. I know that roughing the passer was WEAK, but there is no reason to even touch him, cost us four points (lets assume they make the FG). Then the penalty on the last drive cost use another three points. Chase has basically given them seven points.

We need a good drive that ends in points to start the second half. Get back to running it right at them with Samson, or I fear we'll blow a great opportunity.
So far EMU 10 - EMU 10

With some very stupid penalties, we enabled NIU to score 10 points. So far we are telling NIU, we want you guys to win the game.

Yes the team is playing hard but they have to play SMART!!!!

Lot’s of penalties- and impactful ones- for both sides. Have hurt EMU more though.

Really great post! But I assume you mean EMU should be up 7, not 10?
We love Alex Howie, but he just made the play of the game for NIU.
Maybe I’m missing something but I really dislike it when we do those terrible squib kicks. I know there’s high winds, but we’d give them worse field position just kicking it out of bounds than doing those kicks more often than not.

That was a bogus call on Alex. I was thinking he flung a leg out to trip someone but after the replay I can’t believe a penalty was called - phantom penalty!

03-lmfao of the many critical penalties this game, that one may have topped them all. (Btw, it was a beautiful pass on that play from Smith)

I kind of had that impression too. Gonna rewind it after the game to get a better look. They did not do a good job reviewing it on the replay.
Big stop for a loss on 2nd and 1, as the third down pass was errant. Hopefully, holding them to a field goal will prove valuable in this fourth quarter.
