The Bulldogs will pay UT $1.2 million for the game. First-ever meeting between the two schools. That finalizes our OOC schedule for 2024 with two solid chances at a beatable P5 opponent.

"The University of Maryland paid UT $575,000 to move their previously scheduled 2024 game to Sept. 1, 2029. The Terrapins will pay Toledo $1.45 million for the 2029 game, so UT is pocketing a total of $2,025,000. Maryland scheduled a game against Villanova to replace Toledo.
To fix the hole in their schedule, the Rockets will play at Mississippi State on Sept. 14, 2024. It will be the first meeting between the schools. Mississippi State is paying UT $1.2 million."
Not that Miss St is unbeatable, but I would think that Maryland is a more beatable P5 team.

perhaps but getting all that cash from two P5 and playing two P% is a win-win and one we here have been pressing for...guessing this was in works for weeks..way before our recent questions/push...but congrats to AD for pulling this off...

Maryland QB graduates this year. They are pretty dang good. I think they saw a beating coming in a rebuild year so dished us off for an FCS. Miss State is running with the interim turned HC after Leaches untimely death. They look putrid on offense and insist on running it 80% of the time. He may be a 1 year coach if MSU ends up 4-8 and in last place in the SEC West. I'd say it will be pretty winnable if we have Candle and DQ.

I would be totally fine with a 5 game home schedule next year if that means we get rid of Duquesne or Umass.
Agree. Now drop UMass, Duquesne and Morgan St for teams like East Carolina, Marshall, any Mt West or mid-P5 schools.

We are not playing Maryland next year, just one P5 school on the schedule which is MISS ST.....and dangerous UMASS, WKU and Dukane...

agreed......but if was just that easy....other school needs to agree to play UT and have room on schedule next year or 2025 (or willing to change it)...at this point I am more interested in 2026 and beyond..what UT AD can do to fill those up...
