During the pandemic, I visited a place in downtown Rochester, Michigan called the Desert Oasis. I had a Toledo Rockets hat on, and the owner who was taking coffee orders asked me if I remembered a player name Sameer Hamood. I said sure I do, he was number 90. He said "that's right!! He is my nephew" I believe he said he is now an attorney - but can't remember where he is practicing law. Offered some dessert to go with the coffee "on the house" - but we turned it down, and that was tough to do.
I just saw this in today's Crain's news. I'll have to make a trip back over when it is complete. Looks like it will be nice. Since the words didn't copy over with the photo - it stated " Dessert Oasis Coffee Roasters owner to open upscale bar in Rochester" Desert Oasis Coffee Roasters owner Nathan Hamood is brewing up a new business for his portfolio that specializes in a different kind of beverage" This is going to be located beneath his upscale coffee shop.
He also gave me a CD of his daughter who is an aspiring recording artist. It was actually much better than I was expecting. I'll now have to look to see how she is doing. He's an incredibly nice guy. Hope this does well - and really hope it is open before Christmas. Downtown Rochester is quite the sight during the Holidays. Every building is draped in canopies of lights.
