Well friends, I had a great time at the game as expected with honestly a much better result than I hoped for. The guys looked a tad slow in the beginning, but much like the Florida game, they made the adjustments on defense to win this thing. Makes you wonder whether Nebraska is really just that bad this year, or if we have a talent for getting up for this seemingly overwhelming games. Either way, we now know that we should have been better than 6-6 on the season.
I'm very proud of what they did on Friday. It was a great game and it honestly was not as cold as I thought it would be. Of course, my girlfriend had on layers and was worried that I was too cold...but I'm a man and I can survive the cold! lol
As for 10MAN, he called me on my cell phone and must have killer eyesight, because he was down in the north end zone behind our band and spotted us way the hell up in the corner of the stadium. 10, I'm not sure what you were drinking that made you think to wear SHORTS to the game, but it must have kept you warm dude! I mean SHORTS?!?!?
Anyway, we get out of there with a 27-23 win and really got some people talking. I'm proud of them. I thought the game was very well coached on our end, and that Solich didn't have that bad of a game plan with exception of that fake punt call.
Hotty Toddy friends!!!
WR
p.s. 10MAN, how's your head?
Dude, I wear shorts all year round. Call it stupidity, or whatever you want, but me and long pants just don't seem to get along too well.
As for spotting you, I remembered where you had said your seats were and looked up in that section and you were actually the first person that my eye caught up there. I knew it was you when I dialed your phone and you went to answer it. And my head is fine after a couple of days now, but I'm still in shock about beating the Huskers! When we have all cylinders of our game working, we are hard to beat. We just haven't seemingly been able to put them all together this season except on a couple of occasions. But, we finally got it in gear in the second half the other night, didn't we?
Great win Rebels!!!
I just don't know how you stand it when it's that cold out though. I froze my arse off by the end of the night and I had khakis on.
They really looked great in the second half. When we went into that two minute drill and scored to make it 17-14 before halftime and then got that defensive stop, I knew we had a chance. It was still pretty much a nailbiter they rest of the way through.
Yeah, I tried to call you when we got back to the hotel, but you were apparently asleep...yeah...asleep.
We got a bite to eat and crashed early though. We had both been up early and working since 6am.
Cheers!

Nah, I called your cell phone and I think it was a little before 9. I was told that you were "out." I heard that you were "tired." It must have been a really long day for you too.
WR
I was thrilled with the results. I wasn't too sure about some of our calls but in the end - it worked out.
I question the time we went for it on 4th and almost 4 on the 40-something. Man, we wouldn't even go for 4th and 1 inside the 30 against M-State. When did Cut grow the cods?
We never folded - Solich started trying to pass and played right into our hands.
CONGRATULATIONS, REBELS! Especially our Senior ball players.
Kiss our Rebel ******, all you sportscasters and commentators that said, "This is going to be the biggest blow out (by the Huskers) of ALL the bowl games!"
The REBELS have started the winning for the SEC. We have done our part - now, ya'll do yours.
GO SEC!!!
It's funny, "Nebraska is still Nebraska....they are better than their record...blah, blah, blah. We win and all the a-holes I know (especially all those with M-state ties say, "Nebraska was lousy - anyway!" "They shouldn't have been in a bowl game.....we could have beaten them!"
WE DID!
UM vs ND - We Won!
UM vs OU - We Won!
UM vs Neb - We Won!

That's the answer I'm going with anyway!!
Oh my GAWD was that a great win or WHAT? I will admit, what with the paper bag over my head and wincing everytime we made a bonehead play, I didn't exactly watch ALL of the game from the comfort of the shoebox but I did see most of it. Despite the usual dumb*** calls, we got it done and I'm as proud as I can be.
We're really carving out a niche as the "giant-killers" in the Weedwhacker Bowl. What's that, like 5 wins there now, against how many storied programs?
The best part was that we ended their 8+ win streak that they've had going since 1962! Hell of a win, my friends.
Regarding the rumors of my untimely demise, I've been incommunicado as of late cuz well, I met this girl, see, and uh she's a published writer, professor at Memphis State and she just happens to live down the street from me. Met through mutual friends. What can I say? It's been all good so far. Too early to say anything long term but DIZ-AM I never knew dating a writer could be so much fun. The fact that she looks like Michelle Pfeiffer doesn't hurt, either. :D
Woulda loved to be there with y'all in the cold but the man has been working me like a galley slave this month. Maybe this time next year we'll at least be headed to the Peach. Hotty Toddy, y'all!
Well, a new woman would certainly explain things.
Congrats dude. Like you, I've found a real gem this time and I somehow don't have as much time for the boards. Interesting part is that mine is a co-worker which makes things interesting around the office. Actually, it's kind of fun because pretty much the whole building has it figured out, but most of them don't say anything to either of our faces just because it's so much like high school for them. Oh well, if the gossip makes them happy, I guess I'm glad to help. lol
Cool thing is that she came to the game with me Friday night completely objective. She doesn't really follow college sports and isn't loyal to any one Mississippi school. She was cheering like crazy for the Rebs though and that was cool. She'll be easier to convert than the Vol was.
Cheers!

Oh, the love of new relationships! Maybe I should try that myself, but I need to ask the wife first.
Congrats, guys, I'm not that far removed from the single life, but six years of marriage makes you look back...
Wouldn't change a thing, though. I've got the best, most understanding wife and mother of my child that I could ever ask for. I am very fortunate to have her, especially seeing that I'm apparently not ready to grow up just yet, so I guess she is raising two boys.LOL! But hopefully, y'all will be as lucky as me in that regard one day. Maybe the ones y'all have just met will be that "one".
And Wiz, my wife was also a co-worker when we started dating way back when. I wish y'all the best, but just don't forget about your buddies here on this forum.

Nope, I won't forget my buddies on here. Yeah, the co-worker thing is interesting. It's especially interesting when you do a morning show together for a week.

Ahhh, that conversation y'all had Friday morning is a lot clearer now!!
I'm talking about the segment where you were talking about things women say when they actually mean something else. You know what I'm talking about, don't ya? We listened on the way out to S'port the other morning.
Yep, I know what you are talking about. The funny part when I started into that list is when she said "I hope she's not listening." Yeah dude, she rocks and we have a lot more in common than the last one and I did...not to slight the Vol at all. She really was a sweetheart. Anyway, neiter the current girl nor I ever saw it coming until we just suddenly realized we liked each other. Kinda cool.
Cheers!

Good stuff, I had forgotten about her saying that, but it is funny now that I know!! Good luck, she seems really cool.
Thanks bud. She really is. :)

JBR, if she does look like Michelle Pfeiffer, it doesn't matter if she is a writer/professor, carny, a double naught spy or an astronaut. Way to go!!
(I does help if a person has a brain and personality but a babe with looks like that makes up for deficiency anywhere else.)
Yeah, she's one of those rare breed of writers who actually ENJOYS the human race. Extrovert, for real. She's a TOTAL social butterfly, hot and smart as a whip. Umm, too early to say much, so I'll just say "works for me."
Not sure I could do the face to face thing with my honey every morning, Wiz. You're more a man than me, dude.
I'll never forget my online family but I don't have quite the free time I once had, if you know what I mean. . .
Let's hear it for hot chicks with brains!
