Illinois getting whooped on both sides of the LOS. En route to embassment-ville.
Remember when people thought the ILLness was good?

They had one decent season last year. Everyone forgets they lost their DC which was the only reason they won games last year.
Well, they have a pulse but defense is lacking.
Illinois DB takes away a Kansas TD with a pick. Illni scores and converts two point play on a shuffle pass. Down nine with 8:08 left. Two KU defenders ejected for targeting; DE and DB.
Terrible spot putting KU in 3rd and 1. Illinois defense holds on downs. Chasing 9 points with 3:33 left
Another KU pick. Ball game. 34-23 with 1:59
Illinois Lines are not P5 amazing this year. Individual players yes, but scheme and gameplan mean more than just dudes. This was a tough matchup for Illinois. Their D is gona be worn out after Penn State.
Illini getting whooped on by the basketball school. Hmm well what does that mean for the Rockets?

We are probably the 50th best team in the country and 25 spots better than the rest of the MAC.03-phew
Kansas has become a good P5 team believe it or not. Illinois is prob a middle of the pack Big whatever.
Translation: we should’ve won last Saturday…
Both teams are going to win their fair share of games this year. Illinois also lost their second game last season against a horrendous Indiana team. Then reeled off six straight wins. Keep in mind Illinois beat Penn State in 2021 and that was with a roster that was bottom of the Big10. The idea of a James Franklin coached team losing to what is seen as inferior opponent isn’t out of the question. Illini aren’t playing as well as they should be, but they have plenty of talent and will get it figured out. Their schedule after Penn State isn’t filled with a bunch of powerhouses either.

Give credit where credit is due, Kansas is physical along the line of scrimmages and has some playmakers at the skill positions. Their receivers made a few incredible catches last night. They should be 4-0 going into their matchup with Texas in a few weeks.
Let’s also credit HC Lance Leipold and his Buffalo transfers.
I watch many of Kansas teams when I was station in Oklahoma with the USAF. Saw them play against the Sooners, I believe when they beat the Sooners in 95.
