That’s it. That’s the post. Four passing yards in a FBS game. How can you support this? I have been supporting FIU for three decades but it somehow keeps getting worse.

God bless you all, and may you somehow find more joy than I have now.
If y’all had any yards in the passing game tonight, we don’t win. I know that’s got to be a tough pill for y’all to swallow as a fan.
WILD stat!!!
The fact your coach feels he has no one better on the sideline should make all FIU fans sad. No the fact the coach didn'y give any QB a chance is right up there with the UTEP in awful coaching and most likely keeping this from a win.

Tech was not at all worried about the pass for the whole 2nd half. Hell its not like that QB is a great runner...he has very little wiggle and stiff when he does run.

What should we expect? I don’t think many programs keep getting hurt more by the transfer portal over the years, especially on the offensive line. This program continues to get decimated on the offensive line by that (Hudson Jr to UF, Frazier to LSU, Finau to Purdue) along with losing almost every other top player the program develops (Chambers to Maryland, Peterson to UCF, Bernadel to Stanford). They’ve then been getting replaced by mostly FCS caliber players or FBS benchwarmers.

FIU keeps getting hurt by the poor gameday atmosphere, and the minority complex of South Florida athletes about the university and the area in general. There is this thought that things are better elsewhere, even at places like ULM and Marshall so top recruits leave. This results in losing and perpetuates a poor gameday atmosphere that continues to make players want to leave once they get the chance. It’s a vicious cycle. We’ve seen the excitement that South Florida area fans bring to a program that starts winning. Like they did with the Heat and with the Panthers. There are tons of FIU alumni in the area that are just waiting for the program to do something to be proud of that they could support. Otherwise they just don’t bother. It’s sad.

FIU needed a Kiffin-like or Tom Herman type hire more than other programs. Someone with the personality to help bring in the abundant recruits in the area to the program and help keep those they do get from leaving for other opportunities through the portal. That was the way to help stop the cycle and get this thing on track. Macintyre is simply not that type of coach or personality. As bad as Pete Garcia was during his later years at the university, early in his career he understood that. From the Shakey hire, to Mario Cristobal, to hiring Isaiah Thomas. Many did not work out but FIU needed to keep doing that to finally break through, like FAU did with Kiffin. As much as FAU fans like to think their program is different, it is not. They’ve just made the right hires.

Scott Carr has so far appeared disastrous at his coaching hire decisions with Macintyre and I fear with Witten as well. And to make things worse he gave Macintyre an extension he didn’t do anything substantial enough to deserve. He just seems clueless as to what is needed for success in athletics at a university in South Florida.
It's gonna take a while to get over the damage done by your previous AD Garcia.

FIU is a sleeping giant, but I've been saying that for years.

Must get the right folks in there.

BTW, MT had -66 rushing yards in our Hawaii Bowl win against SDSU last year.
Jeepers, I assume Fiu lost even with a 14 point lead? Hey, maybe us Miner fans and Fiu fans should get together an have a CRYFEST. It might generate tourists to the area. We would never run out of beer as our tears would continue filling up our beer steins.

Or maybe we can also burn our coaches effigies as part of the Cryfest. That would be fun, our bring the matches.
Yet FIU lead for the first 59 minutes! Make it make sense!
Hell, Navy had over forty passing yards against *Notre Dame*. Navy.

Sorry, FIU fans. I feel for y'all.
I can’t wait for this game on the schedule now.

FIU needs to invest in its facility and programs in order to attract a coach like Kiffin. Our program is different, we are committed to growing our football brand, and that means our stadium and facilities match our ambitions.

I realize that offensive rhythms and strategies have changed since then, but seeing this post immediately took my mind back to the 1981 Sugar Bowl between Georgia and Notre Dame, which I had the privilege to attend at the Superdome. In the entire game, Georgia completed one (1) pass, which went for about 12 or 13 yards. And that’s it.

But Georgia won, 17-10. The ground game, the kicking game, and a fierce defense told the tale.
