We need another guard?

Mice addition.

Definitely an around the arc player. Has nice touch with a couple of jump kooks and some nice off the glass inside shots. I didn't see any rebounding, etc. Definitely has a nice shot and has played well against some tough OOC teams.

UT needs scorers and TK must think he can contribute some known scoring punch next season. It would be awesome if he could be a 10+ ppg scorer for 2024.
Can he play inside effectively? Glad we are using scholarships.

Possibly one more addition? WE need a tough inside addition.
Good addition, adds some experience to a otherwise very very young rocket squad, also adds a lot of scoring. Can fill it up with the best of them from outside. 7.5 attempts a game last year on 38.8% from behind the arc, is elite shooting, not going to get much better than that. 16ppg certainly sounds nice, hopefully it translates to the MAC. TK Must've seen that scoring is still a need and we went a got a scorer, we need guys to put the ball in the basket, Marko looks like he'll help with that.

He'll probably play the three as he's bigger than Sonny at the 1 (obviously) and Dante at the 2, so he fills that need of a 3 swingman type. Not sure how his defense looks but as aforementioned the scoring may be needed regardless.

Happy we used one of the scholarships, also think Marko will take some pressure of our 24 commit Tyler Ode, to fill a need right away, we kill a couple birds here with this Marko stone.

Mr. Maletic has a quick release with some serious range. The video shows he has nice touch at the rim and does a nice job one on one. He does a nice job handling the ball, as well. I hope his defense is as sharp.
Decent-sized wing with D1 experience and a nice shot from 3. I’m not upset about this news.

Does this mean K plays him as a stretch 4 and since he’s not comfortable in that role, doesn’t contribute much and ends up leaving after season? It’s a fair question
Definitely helps.make the team better. Help to stretch the opponent's defense and the Rockets avoid those costly multiple minute dry spells.
Really great addition. 2 weeks before fall classes start and we fill the one big hole in the roster w a big wing who can score and has experience. I mean Chad Baker Mazara is definitely better, Carlos Rosario probably too, and Alpha Chibambe and Makhai Valentine were exciting high flying prospects, but give it up to the staff for sticking with it and not settling. Maletic may look like he should be on the bowling team not the basketball team but his offense is legit. Moves well without the ball, can handle it, and has a quick shot w good range. We lost 3 excellent scorers and needed another replacement. Done. He can jump right into the rotation and get buckets. 22 against Marquette, 32 vs James Madison, 28 vs Farleigh Dickinson, must have had an injury as he missed their last 7 or 8 games.

Plus, having a guy who shoots like this in practice will make our other players better defenders. Raised a couple hours from Toledo in London, Ontario but his parents are from Yugoslavia and Maretic is a Croatian name, so good chance he and Grgur have some connections linguistic and otherwise which is an interesting subplot here. 22 years old with an good backstory

Bro is LETHAL and can create his shot... How happy we're we with JTs tape from Walsh? This dude popped off against some good competition. He's an eyebrow raiser.

Stretch 4 situation reminds me of Stempin. Could have played in NBA as a 3, forced to play 4 in college and did not get enough looks facing the basket.

Darko was just a rhyming mechanism of the former Piston.

I hope Marko succeeds

If one of the new bigs allows Andre to move out and his 3's % holds, we have that stretch all game long.

If he can play defense.
Marko Maletic

At 6’6 210 lbs he has good size for a wing although I was hoping for a player closer to 6’8. First impression - Looks like instant offense off the bench - a floor-spacing streaky sharpshooter from the perimeter. Last year he shot .388 from 3 (69-178) and .432 overall, moves well without the ball and excels as a catch-and-shoot threat who can get hot and be a game changer. In the small sample on the video his handle looks shaky (23 assts 48 tos 11 stls) and D is unknown, but suspect, grabbed abt 3 rbs per game. For a sharp shooter he only made 70% from the line and only got to the line 59 times (41-59). For comparison, last year Milner got to the line 125 times and shot 78% and grabbed 6 boards a game. I’m curious as to why his minutes evaporated at the end of the season at LIU. He seems to have some maturity and experience and is a good student as he made the NEC Commissioner's Honor Roll for achieving at least a 3.75 GPA. Maybe TK and Massey can help him find his role with the Rockets and take his game to the next level.

Some insight on his journey in this link i added a few posts up. Has traveled a rough road to D1 and overcome challenges. Seems like a guy coming into his own. I thought he looked pretty good with the ball in his hands. More than a catch and shoot guy who stands on the perimeter. 59 free throws is decent. Lots of 3 pt specialists have less although TK is gonna be on him to shoot over 75%. Our stats are padded by winning a lot of games and having teams desperation foul late. LIU was not as good. Need decent defense from him but that’s not why he was signed. Per that article questions about his d limited his college options early on and he learned to take d more seriously in order to get his D1 shot.
I like getting some more scoring, wish we were getting more size.
In today’s college game, you can never have enough “shooters”! I like his confidence as he was quoted last season as saying “in my mind I always feel like I’m in the zone and that you must have short term memory as a shooter.”
