The college football universe is tossed into flaming entropy with only the Sun Belt and the MAC serving as bastions of calm. While the Sun Belt appears wise to stand pat with a winning hand, one wonders how future moves may force Commissioner Gill to raise the stakes.

Go after ECU and Memphis.
I'm sure Keith Gill and the 14 Presidents are watching this closely to see how things fall. If the SBC wants to expand and has some teams in mind then the PAC-4 adding 6-8 schools from a combination of the AAC/MWC works best. If our 14 is so solid and they don't want to add anyone else then I imagine they could not care less which of the 2 the PAC chooses to merge with. Regardless 2024 will start a new era of football where there are more tiers than ever in the FBS.

Super 2 (B1G/SEC)
Big 1 (ACC)
Mid 1 (XII)
G5/G6 depending on what P12 does.

No need to elevate them, they're in our way.

Yeah, don't go after anyone. If they want to do business, they know who to call.
I used to believe adding ECU and one of Memphis/UAB/WKU was the way to go. Now I don’t think adding anybody is worth doing away with divisions (which you’d pretty much have to with 16). The league is perfectly built as is. Those schools aren’t worth throwing away the identity of those tight divisions.

I understand your sentiment. However, if Texas State remains a member, it would REALLY benefit them and the SBC to add UTSA as a travel partner. We would vote for whoever y'all want on the other side.
The Belt will do whatever ESPN wants them to do.

I honestly think UAB would be the best add followed by ECU. Both would fit in the footprint of each division.

Since we know OOC games with P5 are going to dry up, we should look to play 9 conference games anyway. The alternative is to go to 18, play no cross division games with the two champs meeting for the crown. This eliminates unequal cross division matchups. That would lead me to FAU and UTSA.

Your suggestion that the ACC a better conference than the expanded Big XII is cute. The only thing keeping the ACC together right now is their GOR contract. The “new” Big XII >>>>> the ACC, and twice on Sunday.

Screw ‘em and their undeserved elitism.

I often wonder does ECU and their fans know they are a G5 school in Greenville, NC? I truly believe that being associated with so many metro schools for so long and seeing them come and go has really altered the reality of things for them.

I genuinely wish I could save them the disappointment many of their fans are setting themselves up for at times. At some point, they need to seriously look around and read the room. Take a look at all the schools that they've been associated with that has moved up.

That realization is what I believe will keep the core of the SBC strong. We know that we need to elevate ourselves and this conference. We aren't getting that golden ticket based on our location and "potential".

As we await action from the Pac4 in anticipation of any trickle down effects to the Sunbelt. I think we all could agree a weaken AAC leading to a ECU plus one addition would be exciting, but I wanted to pose this scenario.. what if the sunbelt loses one school and we are unable to add from the AAC. Who would you go after to return to an even 14? Here’s a list of options I had thought of:
1. Missouri St
2. La Tech
3. WKU
4. MTSU
5. Chattanooga
6. FIU
7. Delaware
8. UCONN

My take.. I’d like to add to our basketball (tournament runs can make small conferences a lot of money), yet try to maintain a bus league. I think an all sport UCONN would make the conference a lot of money, but I would be willing to bet they’d decline. Next I would think WKU would be the second most valuable, yet Missouri St would be quite intriguing as well.
Fortunately or unfortunately we're together for a reason. Our locations stink or we're just not in a position to take advantage of our good fortune.

We need to sure up membership by throwing a couple of bones around and grab a couple studs soon as we can.

UAB, ECU, USF, Memphis, and something for Texas state. FAU maybe but only for USF.

Texas state forces the flat out reach down so that's a problem they don't seem to care about. Kinda pissn me off.

MTSU and WKU are potential options along with La Tech.
Memphis would rather be independent than share a conference with stAte. They think Jonesboro is well beneath their dignity.

Forget Memphis. I'm just spit balling the obvious but if they come calling we should listen.

With ECU and Memphis, it provides an Eastern and Western program and gives Arkansas State a natural rival and travel partner, which they've lacked for much longer than Texas State has.
