With all that's in the air going on with the Pac-12, it got me to thinking about a couple of earlier moves that I'll give credit to those decisions.
Wallace Loh and Kevin Anderson struck a bold move in preserving best path forward for UMD which was actually their jobs, and in hind sight looks to be win/win in the big picture. UMD got cash infusion plus step up to P2, B1G gained prime market and reached over $1 billion per year deal.
The other was John Swofford seeing the handwriting on the wall in wake of UMD, and securing the ACC schools together for as long as he could.
While controversial at the time the decisions were made, they look pretty solid in achieving their objectives in light of today's circumstances over 10 years later. Real leadership is often not popular.
To be clear, I'm an old school guy who has accepted I've got to move on. I hate seeing what's going on with PAC, as I've appreciated and respected them as Rose Bowl opponents. After seeing what happened to PGA Golf with LIV, I'm thinking waiving the white flag on tradition in general is probably my option.
