$20.3M initial project budget

Project scope as presented at the BOT meeting yesterday:

- Expand the existing entrance lobby and ticketing area by adding approximately 7,400 sq ft of space to bring ticketing operations indoors and create new entrance
- Modernize the lobby and connecting concourse with new lighting, paint, finishes, and graphics
- Construct a new club level lounge, with approximately 4,600 sq ft of space and associated premium club seating, on the concourse level and adjacent to the entrance lobby
- Construct appoximately 12,100 sq ft of new spectator suites above the club level lounge and install a new elevator to access the suites
- Replace floor level retractable seating behind each basket with new seating that will bring spectators closer to the court
- New scoreboards
- New ribbon board
- Some other exterior enhancements

$9.3M has already been raised. Project scope could expand if fundraising comes in strong.

Long overdue. This on the heels of a new basketball practice facility.

...yeah, the entry/concourse areas need some 'finishing up', lighting / color schemes, etc...

It would also be cool to have a 'history of UAB mascots' area, with the 'Viking' taking center stage, of course...


and, are they going to enclose the outdoor entry area? (noted the ticket booth area, so I reckon so) I always wondered if that was the plan all along, as it's a pretty large area of slab...

Congratulations. What is the timeline for construction?

I would guess after the 23-24 season for Phase 1.

Congratulations, I'm just glad ECU found the funds to update our lighting system that was still running on Windows 95 (and no I'm not kidding).
