I assume we owe South Alabama a return visit, right?
It was a one game series. That said they is a possibility that the HH series ets started up again.

Sun. 11/12/23 - at Asheville Championship (vs. Clemson, Davidson or Maryland)

Might be able to make the Sunday game on the way back from Navy.
Hosting UNC Asheville. They won their league and will still have Drew Pember who was one of the best stretch bigs in the country
Should be a fun matchup to watch Yax and Chris guard him
https://uncabulldogs.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster their roster is basically seniors and 5th years
I like these kind of tuneup games much more than what we've been used to

Look's like their coach is linked to the Charlotte job. It would be our luck that we would get a competitive Big South champion and then their coach leaves to a fellow AAC team and then they take a downturn.

Hopefully that won't happen though. Looking forward to the rest of the schedule.

Add Southern Miss.

You know, Jacksonville looked okay on paper going into last season and they didn’t finish above .500.

And just like that we scheduled USM. I don't know what their roster is like except for them getting Andre Curbelo

I'm sure more and more games will be leaked soon, but so far so good.
This was our home non-con schedule last year:

Mississipi College (DII)
Alabama State (SWAC)
Presbyterian (Big South)
Rhodes (DIII)
Jacksonville (ASUN)
South Alabama (Sun Belt)
South Carolina (SEC)
Southern (SWAC)

This year so far:
UNC Asheville (Big South regular season AND tournament champs)
Southern Miss (Sun Belt regular season champs)

If both of those replace the DII and DIII games, I'll be happy, but if we have 1-2 non DI teams again, then I will be upset again.
I assume we will play one of the Alabama SWAC schools, but I'd rather not play 2 SWAC teams again in one season.

We shall wait and see who else fill out our schedule.
Not sure how anyone can complain about the first two additions to the schedule outside the tournament.
On paper, both of these games are fine. Both are home games I assume? If that’s the case and these are replacing a lot of the fluff from last year, I’m great with it.
They are home games.

My thoughts as well. I'd much rather see USM and UNCA than the SWAC or DII/DIII schools, as long as these aren't the "premier" nonconference games. And knowing AK, I'm sure he's got a thing or two cooking. Hopefully anyway.
Wonder if U-Mass ends up on the schedule with Martin going there. Also think we might see Middle or WKU OOC. Heard Chattanooga mentioned and also won't be surprised to see Samford HH
Well we won't be dropping a half dozen home games.
I’m fine with those two games in a vacuum.

If we still have 2 non d1 teams and a bunch of horrible d1 teams in addition to those two games, I’ll be pissed.

Go on the road. Get tested. Play more tough games. As good as our last two teams were they were nowhere near tested enough going into a tough conference schedule. The AAC will be at worst as tough as CUSA was last year, likely significantly harder.

And like others said we need a schedule that gives us a decent chance at an at large bid
I assume 2/3 of Clemson/Davidson/Maryland + those two games at home for starters does not equal what we are going to do OOC. I understand we have a media contract and have to have a certain number of home games. I also understand the logistics become slightly difficult because of that.(You can offer 6 teams home and homes, because you'd mess that contract up in doing so) Last year our home schedule was:

NET 346
NET 352
Non D1
NET 236
NET 106
NET 234
NET 276

Those 2 games on paper are better than every home game we had last season except maybe 1. And for what it's worth the NET 234 was USCe. If we add some combination of USA, Samford, MTSU, WKU to the schedule, we are way better off than we were last year. I'd like to hit a couple of tests on the road OOC as well, so I hope we are working on that.
I really hope we add a recurring series with WKU.

Quality opponent, lots of history between the schools, easy road trip, fun & tough environment to play at.

They check all the boxes.
All for WKU and Middle as well.

That would certainly be a bold strategy as we look to do renovations. Just cancel a third of our season ticket value.
