Well today is the big day for women's college hoops. It's the Hawkeyes vs the Bayou Bengals for the national championship.

In anticipation, I looked at the history of Iowa vs LSU and found that this is the first time these schools are meeting in women's hoops. So I looked at men's hoops and football as well.

Men's Hoops ..... LSU is 3-0 vs Iowa, defeating the Hawkeyes in 1963, 1996, 2002. The 2002 game was an NIT game.

Football ........... the schools have met only twice.

2004: Iowa defeated LSU in the 2004 Citrus Bowl 30-25. This win came via a last-minute Hail Mary type pass, and was Nick Saban's last game as LSU coach.

2013: LSU returned the favor in the 2013 Outback Bowl, defeating Iowa 21-14.

So ... just not a lot of athletic interaction among them, FWIW.
LSU has looked great and was underseeded. Still salty about coming up one bucket short versus them in what shouldn’t have been a sweet 16 pairing.
in case you were wondering....
That Clark’s range starts at half court. She is probably shooting 40% from half court
Very high scoring game so far.

The female Steph
That girl from LSU is just on fire.
LSU putting on a shooting clinic. Everyone is scoring for the Lady Tigers - especially bench specialist Jasmine Carson with 21 points [7/7 field LOL].

Iowa's run may already be over.
LSU bench getting it done! Wow!!
Iowa basically looks like Clark and some other girls. It started to show at the end there when she went to the bench with 3 fouls.
Mulkey watched USC not shoot open shots from outside vs. throw it inside. She's told her team to be aggressive with good looks, and thus far, they are converting.
Big ten losing another championship
Inconsistent officiating aside, here's the scoring breakdown in the first half...

LSU
21 Carson
10 Williams
8 Johnson
7 Reese
6 Poa
3 Poole
2 Morris
2 Smith

Iowa
16 Clark
9 Marshall
7 Martin
6 Czinano
2 Stuelke
2 Warnock
Iowa making it interesting! 15-2 run prior to that foul.
Kim Mulkey is obnoxious. That being said, she’s done a great job with LSU after coaching Baylor to 3 national titles. Great coach.

she's been such a pain with the refs that she's changed the way the game has been called. Such bull****.
I feel like the refs lost control of the game.
these refs are ******* awful.
I hope this isn’t the ref A team.
This has been one of the worst officiated games I've ever watched. Inconsistency at best. Both teams have gotten terrible calls. I can't believe Clark got called for a tech on that play with the ball. She didn't slam it down in disgust or throw in the direction of a ref or player. Tiki-tack in a natty chip game IMO.
