Obviously the runs have happened from Cinderella's in the past. George Mason, Loyola Chicago, VCU etc.

FAU is on the verge of that historic run as we speak! They didn't even average 2,500 fans a game in a year they won 30 regular season games and don't play in a major conference. They now are asking for 7k tickets to the regional site in the Sweet 16 and Elite 8.

NIL and NBA draft picks have vastly changed the landscape of mbb. If you think your program could compete with a random mid major on your schedule... Remember that FAU was that random mid major just a season ago.

CUSA... do your Thang. Because all of these good teams will be in the AAC come July.
3 of elite 8 from mid major conferences, 3 of NIT final 4 as well

Agree to disagree about the MWC. And Gonzaga is basically a blue blood in an otherwise Mid Major league.

The Burrow only seats 2900. There was a $9 million renovation in 2009. Consider it the Field House of FAU. The community knows it has outgrown the current facility. Boca just got a major ice facility with 2 NHL size rinks. I'm sure a new or expanded BB/event facility is in the works.

And then there is the MAC !

If only we could be like THE Wright State Raiders! GO RAIDERS!
Sounds good, but we are not there yet. Obviously.

They have to get bigger and more athletic inside.
MidnightblueGold, even WSU will never be that team nor will the MAC.

The big difference between FAU and the Rockets is the two bigs, Goldin 7'1" 240 and Rosado 6'8" 248.

The two bigs make a difference but, for one, they use a good part of their bench, second is they have better team speed, and third they have a COACH that took them to the final four.

The different between any of the remaining teams playing and the Rockets are the bigs. They have 'em, we don't. All it takes is 1.
I don't know what to think anymore. We have a final 4 with two 5s, a 4 and a 9. But they are 4,5, and 9s. Kent was a what, 13?

If you are a golf fan, Sam Snead might have said it best; a 5 handicap is a lot closer to a 15 than it is a 2. I think college basketball is the same way. Even if the Mac guys score good in the NET rankings, or whatever poll it might be, there is a large difference up the food chain.

We lost to Kent, who lost to Indiana. Then lost to Michigan (NIT), who lost to somebody, so we didn't beat anyone who beat anyone. Because we were not that good, and neither was the teams that beat us. Might win a game because you shoot lights out, but it will catch up eventually.

I don't know how that changes. They are always a little bigger, a little faster, a little quicker, and jump a little higher.

Ironically, and this may not be popular, but congratulations to our old foe Jim Larranaga. Kyle Rowland Tweeted today and said he is a very underrated coach. I agree.

Jim is making $2.5 mil. John Ruiz is paying the Miami players' NIL, including $800,000 to guard Nijil Pack. I don't know how really underrated Larranaga is. He's got some highly paid hired guns.
They got the money, money talks. Maybe it not so much parity as who has the most money to recruit players.

I can tell you, Eleanor A. Baldwin, a retired educator, just gave $7.5 million to FAU athletics last November. Puts her financial
gifts to the University to over $10 million.
36,000 new businesses opened in Palm Beach County last year. 10 Financial Corporations relocated from NYC worth over $84 billion.

Lot's of money flowing south to Florida. - that's for sure.

Toledo and the rest of the "North" will continue to lose in this on-going demographic race until civic leaders here change their vision from jealously preserving our past shrinking pie to developing new opportunities.

You gotta know after 2 Boca Bowl wins, UT has a pretty good
image here in Palm Beach County.
Agree on the money angle. Seems to me the $ is going to hurt the game, especially teams like Toledo.
Look at FAU schedule. They did not play an overly tough non conference they just won enough games to get a good 9 seed (remember UT got a 6 on womens side once)

A talented big or two and guards that can play can get you there. And a coach that is not too stubborn to get out of his own way
