How is the fund raising going for the new facilities?
Our insider has told us that we are more than halfway towards our funding goal with a multi-million matching gift on the table. The matching gift hasn't been released but we know it was on the closed-door agenda for our BoG a few meetings ago. NC law requires projects to be fully funded before construction begins and it looks like our AD is confident he won't need to request a bond in order to get there.

Cliff's Notes is "everything is awesome" per our AD. Not much real info.
On the latest news on the OCS. The BOT will be asked on March 7, to approve up to 22 million for the stadium design. From what it was reported that amount has already been raised from donations.

But since we won’t know what stadium will look like and amount it will cost until design is done, the fundraising towards it has not been very public, other than that 22 million being requested has already been raised.

They are still looking at 2026 to open stadium
Quote: “We literally don’t have a financing plan yet. We’re working on it...” board chairperson Will Weatherford said. “We don’t know how much the stadium’s going to cost. There’s a lot of ifs and question marks out there. Over the next 6-10 months, all those question marks start to become more clear.”

They are gonna build it. They would never spend $22 million and not build it. Based on the previous rejections, my estimate is that it will land somewhere between $200 and $300 million. Where the financing come from is anyone's guess......
clt says fundraising is going very well. Also, our FB coach and one of his assistants have a combined worth in the billions. That doesn’t hurt

Is that a NC law or just a Charlotte requirement? I've heard conflicting reports.

Yeah, so have I. Just don't think I wanted to muddy the waters here with that discussion. I'd rather ASSUME it's a state requirement and not some dumb*** thing only tied to us.

I think it is a requirement for NC, but traditionally the quickest way around it was to issue bonds. Not exactly a great environment to issue bonds so everything seems to be going slower.

Presumably this is why the East side expansion at KBS hasn't been officially announced even though AD privately confirmed all suites had been presold and vast majority of premium seating was taken also.

Crappy environment to be doing big capital projects.
I know this thread is about facilities fundraising, but I have no news there. However, Charlotte just completed the 8th annual digital #NinerNationGives campaign -- 49 hours where you can donate and tag the money for anything you want. Academic, athletic, in memory of someone, whatever. We raised $3,082,093 from 5,466 gifts, coming from all 50 states plus international friends of the University.

This is separate from the 49er Club (athletics boosters), and all the other fundraisers that happen across campus. I am sure you all get requests from your schools throughout the year too.
