I saw a lot of articles last year that John Scheyer was going to be the perfect hire for Duke basketball to replace Mike Krzyzewski. Tonight in southern Florida:

Miami 81, Duke 59
Yikes! Did Coach K ever take a beating like this in his 43 year tenure in Durham?

He lost 10 years ago in Miami 90-63. Team went on to the Elite 8 that year.
The adage of 'Records mean nothing in a rivalry game.' were never truer than tonight in Milwaukee. The 16-7 Panthers (10-3 in the Horizon League) fell at home to Green Bay, 80-79 in overtime. The Phoenix, one of the worst D-1 teams in America this year, improved to 3-22 and 2-12 in conference play. The loss prevented Milwaukee from moving into a first-place tie with Youngstown State. Green Bay snapped a 14-game losing streak in the process.

Duke had the No. 1 recruiting class in the country last year, with 4 five-star players and 2 four-star players. They are just young, inexperienced, and learning to play together. You can see the talent. They are probably a team you don't want to play in the NCAA Tournament.

What’s encouraging about GB is that there was a spark of life in that game. Whatever’s happening there, it’s not maybe totally gone. Hartford, otoh, plays just like you’d expect a team leaving D1 to play.

And this was on the heels of a loss as bad as any, to IUPUI. You see turn around like that happen from one game to the next after a bad loss.

Despite the poor season for the Phoenix, it sounded like there was quite a bit of support for Green Bay in Milwaukee whenever they scored. As for IUPUI, the Jaguars are still a bad team, but their games this season aren't as lopsided in losses as they were in 2021-22.

I saw that Milwaukee is playing a home game at Klotsche instead of the MECAA this week while in a battle for 1st place. That's a controversial topic with UWM fans who want to hang onto the MECCA (which UWM now owns) and not move into Klotsche.
6 Tennessee 65
Vanderbilt 66

FINAL

Vandy hits a 3 at the buzzer to win.
West Virginia 76
Iowa State 71

Helps WVU's bubble chances. With ISU's loss, Texas is back in sole possession of first in the Big 12.

Good thing this isn't football or someone would have lost their job for this. Well except for at Kentucky, then your head coach gets a $20 million raise:)

Current NET is Iowa State 12 and WVU 21, and playing in Morgantown, I’d barely call this an upset, despite some of each teams earlier Big 12 results.

And Dazzle is dancing
UConn's women lost to Marquette tonight 57-52 1st time since 1993 that they've lost back to back games.

How crazy is that?

Didn't realize that. I know they usually lose a few games a year but thought that they would possibly play two consecutive powers in a row like Stanford and Tennessee or something.

Anyone know a miracle doctor that can fix Paige Bueckers?
Another thing is they rarely had injuries over those 30 years. These past two years non stop injuries.

Lol I was 13 the last time they lost 2 games in a row. A lifetime ago

They did. But they won at least one of those. I'm a bit surprised that we didn't see it where they lost in the NCAA tourney, and then in 1st game of next season which a lot of times was against a really good team.

Old Uncle Dazzy let loose a scream of joy, after the game-winning shot, that almost shattered his TV screen. We got lucky. Tennessee should have won.

thx for the shoutout, dbackjon!

It's one of those things that you hear it and you're like that can't be right.

Agree. It's simply hard to fathom a program could go 20 season without back-to-back losses.
