If the PAC declines an espn deal, then agrees to a partial merge to the B12.

Imagine they then are sitting across the same table with the same espn people...

Could be a bit of an awkward moment.

Please explain, what do you mean by a “partial merge”?

I think the only ways there can be any crossover of members from the Pac to the Big 12 or vice versa are (1) a full merger to form a 22-member combined conference or (2) a defection of one or more members from one conference to the other. I can’t envision anything in between.
He's probably talking about 6-8 Pac schools joining the big 12, so not a complete merger but more than just a couple of defections.

partial = most.

Though, you're right, it could be "all" - however, I think there are some schools who have apparently made it known that they do not want to be in the same conference as religious schools like BYU and Baylor.

When I wrote the OP, I was more thinking about the awkward moment, than worrying about listing who might move : )
It's moot, because this would never happen unless they already knew how much they would be making after this "partial merge". The B12 would never issue the invites without knowing in advance what the financials would be. ESPN and Fox would be enabling the whole thing on both sides.

There's a lot of fantasy going on lately about the mighty B12 eating the PAC...

Reminder: B12 is not the B1G.

maybe.

And thought I really just posted this as a funny thought, should we see something like this in a month or so, I suppose it could very well be more than a bit awkward : )
