From the article:

The Biden administration published a congressionally mandated report highlighting the positive economic benefits the Keystone XL Pipeline would have had if President Biden didn't revoke its federal permits.

The report, which the Department of Energy (DOE) completed in late December without any public announcement, says the Keystone XL project would have created up to 59,000 jobs and would have had a positive economic impact of up to $9.6 billion.

But hey, it wouldn't had helped since it was years down the road of completion even though oil is traded on "futures"...
A G A I N, a SCOTUS ruling in July of 2020 did not overturn a lower court ruling which halted the permit which allowed pipeline construction. It didn't matter one iota what Biden did or did not do. There was no legal authority for them to re-start construction.

Quote:BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — The U.S. Supreme Court handed another setback to the Keystone XL oil sands pipeline from Canada on Monday by keeping in place a lower court ruling that blocked a key environmental permit for the project.

Canadian company TC Energy needs the permit to continue building the long-disputed pipeline across U.S. rivers and streams. Without it, the project that has been heavily promoted by President donald trump faces more delay just as work on it had finally begun this year following years of courtroom battles.

When you understand that on day 1, Biden did everything in his power to screw this country and is begging foreign countries for help when he could do something.

When are you going to unwrap your lips from the Dems cheek to understand they ain't worried about you.

BTW from the article:

Immediately after taking office in January 2021, Biden canceled the pipeline's permits, effectively shutting the project down.

If the Supreme Court had done this in 2020, why did Biden have to cancel the permit genius?

**Tom didn't read his own article. The SCOTUS upheld a lower courts ruling in Montana. The entire pipeline was not cancelled, the permit was pulled until the USACE could provide an analysis on pipelines over bodies of water, but the USACE had also been allowing companies to skirt the letter of the law. TC Energy was moving forward when the Biden Administration pulled ALL the permits.

He didn't have to do it, GENIUS. Again, I already covered this months ago. I said it was likely a mistake to do it because it didn't really need done. He only did it to fulfill a campaign promise to his base...you know...the ones who ACTUALLY have their lips puckered.

And sure...TC could have tried to move forward and skirt the ruling...but they would have just been sued and halted again. This thing was never going to come to fruition...about time to accept it. And we're not even covering the fact that this extension was not going to have any significant effect on our prices at the pump as people like you with their lips fully attached to the cheek of the morons who keep on insisting that.

Another brilliant self-own...LOL.

What's even more striking is that with this issue like on any subject, you can actually learn something about it by merely reading and educating yourself. I guess they haven't figured out how to do all the fancy book learning yet.

TB4E, it's not hard. The information is all out there. All you have to do is read. Of course I can explain all this to you, AGAIN. But sadly, I can't make you understand it.
What a pompous azz you are Tom. Proud of yourself are you?
So if there were no SC action at all on this then the pipeline would still be on it's way to completion on schedule as we speak... right?

No because the Biden admin was going to pull all the permits.

The SCOTUS upheld a lower court's ruling that basically put the USACE and contractors on notice in Montana that they needed to revise their plan. That was being worked on but the pipeline in other states were not held up nor had their permits pulled. Then in January 2021 the Biden admin cancelled all the permits so no matter what the USACE/TC Energy was doing to make sure they could please the Montana court was for naught. The pipeline is officially DOA. But don't let that get in the way of the "tHe ScOtUs CaNcElLeD tHe PeRmIts".

Actually, it was inaction by the SC. A lower court blocked the permit...and when SCOTUS took on the case...which included other blocks from the lower court, they removed those other blocks, but left the Keystone XL block in place.

Eh, it had much more to do with the objections of native Americans whose land this thing would have cut through. Not to mention a pretty significant aquifer.

Honestly, when has the US Govt ever cared about the objections of native Americans? IMO, that is either a cop out or cover for the real reason(s) the permits were pulled.

Federal government? No, not so much. But apparently the local courts did.

The only court that can review anything to do with the Army Corps is federal court. Your referenced "lower court" is a federal court.

It is correct to say the lower court put a stop on the permit issued for the pipeline. But that was about process, and Keystone would have been able to pursue an alternative, legitimate, but much longer and intensive process, and likely have been granted a permit. The Biden action cancelled issued permits. It isn't an apples to apples comparison to say this project was dead because of the court action. Keystone could have pursued and likely obtained a permit, albeit through that other process. Biden's action is what killed the project.
