Jacobs 3/26 from the floor last 3 games. Yikes.

True ... Kent has arguably played two of the worst, if not the worst, teams in the MAC and barely won both games.

Kent never had a two-possession lead in the second half vs. Miami until the 2-minute mark ... and never get it out to three possessions.

Based on what I have seen the last two nights, Kent is no better than fourth best behind Ball St. Toledo and Akron ... and it might be worse as I haven't seen Buffalo or Ohio yet.

In an age where there are really no press clippings to read ... this team seems to be living off of them. Hopei it cleans up quickly. Jacobs needs to get it together, and Carry needs to become consistent.

Then ... maybe????
They may not have played their best game, but unless Ohio wins that close game at BG, KSU will be the only road team to win in the MAC this weekend. That's something.
Did I hear win another game ugly.?

Never apologize for a win

They are not easy to come by at any competitive level.

Especially on the road in conference basketball play. BG has that game in the bag, so KSU was the only road team of the six to win.
And that’s just it. I love this Kent team. For what it is worth, I think they have a shot to win lots of games this year. But I’ve seen enough MAC Basketball to know:

1- Winning in Millet Hall, the Jar, the Convo, Worthen, the new Anderson Arena, Alumni Arena and so on has never and will never be easy tasks.

2- The Terry Francona formula is the ONLY way to go. Cliche as it may sound….play z next play or z next day or whatever. A bumpy ride is fine. Just don’t lose control. History suggests that Kent State’s Head Coach is well aware of this and can steer the ship.

Go Bison!
One thing worth mentioning...we closed the game strong. I realize we screwed up an inbounds play with a couple seconds left after they banked in a three. But at that point the game wasn't in doubt. We took a back and forth game that seemed like it was one possession one way or the other all game, and turned it into a 3 possession lead in the final two minutes. So one big positive is we closed a team out. Haven't had a ton of chances to close games out in NC play and failed to do it in the three we lost, albeit to much stiffer competition.

Some of those legendary Kent State basketball teams had lots of in-conference games against weaker opponents that were pretty close. But they almost always closed out those games in the final one to four minutes.
I’ll say that was a typical basketball game. As my father use to say (he hated basketball), all they do is run up and down the court for a couple of hours and whoever runs last wins the game. There are a lot of games pretty similar to that. The better teams figure out how to win them.
Although I do not fully disagree, burden. That line of thinking cheapens a great freaking game. The game of basketball.

Um... I think we need to talk about this.

Yes, this is important. Kent didn't close out Houston, Gonzaga or CoC. They did close out NM St and UTEP. Closing out games in the MAC will make the difference between 1st and 4th.

I'll say this too. Even though Carry hasn't always had good offensive nights, he can make something happen against tough, end of the game defenses. It's great to have a guy like that on your club on those Wednesday nights on the road in the MAC.

While I am not a fan of a 20 year old with little to no income clicking a button and throwing $25 away, a seasoned veteran with a moderate bankroll who knows his or her way around a point spread and has a trusted associate just feels different to me. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Now as for the Buffalo, New England game….

True, I've known intelligent gamblers who were under control and who made a decent profit over the course of any given year. I've also known good people who fell victim to gambling addiction and who ended up a mess.

I meant the final score was 69-66 Kent. Your betting advice was literally as spot on as possible.
I know.

What I was trying to say nicely is that I’m a seasoned expert. For instance, I knew that Miami would end that game with a safety!!!
