Hey, it's the first January bowl game for my Illini since the 2008 Rose Bowl! The more shocking statistic is that Illinois was actually in a Rose Bowl:)
Of course the bigger story of this game is Mississippi State is playing its first game after the death of Mike Leach.

It was Miss State +3.5 so I don't think so. Illinois was the favorite. Now it probably blew some specialty bets out of the water.

Addendum for Quo Vadis. The line I picked on (not bet) was Illinois plus 1.5 so technically State was favored. The field goal still covered that. So unless the ESPN announcers had a much later line I don't know why they are making a big deal about the last 6.
