As we begin 2023 Washtenaw is open taking tee times and Eagles all over the country could not be prouder to display the BLOCK E after the Potato Bowl win.
The real basketball season begins this week, top 8 teams in conference receive an invitation to a 3 game sprint in Cleveland and the conferences Auto-bid to the 68 team NCAA tournament. The young team has shown us flashes of talent and frustration all December. But College Basketball is a strange sport if you look down the street with Michigan losing to Central Michigan and then the same week beating Maryland by 30. Momentum, Concentration, Shot luck, foul trouble rule the sport. There will be some bad days, but just get to Cleveland guys.
We may have seen the best CFB playoff games in our life time and it illustrates the importance of QB play, if you have a great QB your offense is almost unstoppable, if your QB stinks then you are in the 6-6 poo poo platter. All four QBS in this weeks semi finals games WILL play in the NFL at some point
We just had an instant classic: Tulane / USC.

Truth! What a turnaround at Tulane this year.

And yet another example of utter confusion about the targeting penalty.

Seems CFB this year is putting WWE to shame. WWE can't come up with scripts comparable to what we are seeing.

What Jerry is referring is with about 30 seconds left Tulane moved down the field, making a 4th and 10, and then a pass to the 6 with big time helmet to helmet hit. Both players down.

Then after play resumes, Tulane with NO TOs left, an incomplete pass and then a pass in the end zone called incomplete but OVERTURNED on review. 8 seconds left.

PAT good; Tulane wins 46 - 45.

BTW, Tulane is earning money for their conference and the other G5 schools.

Tulane's season performance was just breathtaking!
Steve, I think targeting needs to go away as it far to subject to interpretation. It was meant to be a safety measure that everyone wants.

That said, the hit in the USC-Tulane game was helmet to helmet and I believe left both players concussed, something we do not want to see. Still, it was similar to Sparacio's hit against EKU this season. The defender launched the tackle and then the ball carrier's head dropped into that launch trajectory and now we have two guys laying on the field with concussions. Unfortunately, as I see it, that is football, the defender had no hat-to-hat intentions and did not deserve a penalty.

Then you get the Marvin Harrison Jr hit in the end zone in the OSU-Georgia game. The replay officials and EXPERT television analysist all agreed that Harrison got hit on the shoulder pads and not the head. Apparently, that shoulder pad hit transmitted to his brain and resulted in OSU medical staff taking away his helmet and the blank stare on his face thereafter. C'mon man, the WAS targeting.

Now for the worst. U-M has a fourth down late vs TCU. They absolutely f--k up the play, BUT when a TCU defender tackles the ball carrier his tackle appears to be "targeting" suspect, so U-M thinks they need 15 yards and a first down. Really?

Interesting happenings in Ann Arbor no one is talking about.
Lock him in prison and throw away the key. This is not the type of act that belongs ANYWHERE in college athletics. Just gross.

Woah Steve, you live in DC. EVERYONE in SE Michigan is talking about this. I was born and raised in Ohio, so despite living close to the Big House, I am not a rabid U-M fan.

Nevertheless, I cannot be disturbed by any findings of the NCAA. These guys got totally blindsided by the "Nike" scandal. They also presided over the court losses that produced NIL and the wild, wild west transfer portal. There are probably more incompetent organizations in the USA, but I am unable to name any of them.

Sam Hartman from Wake Forest just decided to enter the transfer portal and almost immediately enrolls at Notre Dame. Tampering? No. Sure....

If we are going to pay college athletes and act as a semi-pro-organization, then let's get some professionals to establish rules and run it.
