Big names in the MAC could be on the main move...

EDIT: (12/21/2022) With EMU's Dec class signed, sealed and delivered, attention now focuses on February where we might fill any holes left by new player transfers.
Iowa QB, Alex Padilla entered the transfer portal. EmU liked his tweet so did Samson Evan’s - a former teammate of Padilla.

Not sure he can help us... 03-lmfao

It will be interesting seeing who transfers out at EMU.

So far we have had 3 wide receivers: Dennis Smith, Ishawn and Zach Westmoreland. Westmoreland really hurts. With Drummond and Beydoun leaving, we are thin at this position with Lassiter and Knue (not sure if Knue graduates)

I wonder if Boone stays given his lack of carries.

Most of the guys who transferred out ended up at FCS schools, and I think that this may be the case for anyone else leaving. If you can't play at the MAC level, then leveling down makes sense.

WR Crooms is leaving WMU. That would be a nice player to bring in.

Our O-Lineman Carson Lee blocked for Alex in high school
I have a sneaking suspicion that Carson will start next year so maybe Alex would want to come here and be guarded by his high school teammate

Having followed the Hawkeyes all season, the fact that Padilla could not beat out the worst starting QB in the Big 10, Spencer Petras makes me think that EMU could probably do better. I would project him at best as a Shane Morris (CMU) type of QB. He does have some mobility, unlike Petras but I doubt he would light up the MAC.

Bob, your local insight is appreciated. I would love to have a QB that lights up the MAC, but right now we don't have Mike Glass, Brogan Roback or for that matter Preston Hutchinson. Austin Smith is a BIG question mark. I would love to have another mediocre talent like Wiegers or Shane Morris on next year's roster.

Agreed, Bob. If he can help us, great but wasnt Padilla on the worst offense in the Big10?

Yup! Iowa was brutal offensively and the fans were demanding that Petras be replaced by Padilla for 2 seasons and Ferentz stuck with Spencer Petras. Iowa has a pretty rabid fan base and they wanted Petras run out of town! Really makes me question Padilla's ability BUT Jerry makes a good point. It wouldn't hurt to bring the guy in and compete for QB1. I do think we have a diamond in the rough with Austin Smith though.
There have been a lot of good QB's enter the transfer portal (McNamara from UM, Pyne from Notre Dame, Card from Texas, etc.). I don't think any of those type of guys will end up at EMU, but the movement might force other QBs to transfer out (and down) to a group of five school.

Oh yeah. Spot on! That is where we need to be.
I'm hearing a few other names that will be joining Rusk in the portal.

I don't have many sources in Ypsilanti anymore, but the few I do have have indicated the same thing.

I get it that guys will leave these days, but so long as the transfers aren't starters, I dot care
