Houston has 2 tough games coming up before conference play; Alabama (11) at home and Virginia (3) on the road. They also have St. Mary's (25 in Kenpom) at Dickies arena in Fort Worth.

Nothing but respect for coach Sampson

Oh how the turn tables

I watched Houston. Tough team. Sasser is a monster. Sampson's ok...but I'm not sold on his plans for the future, i.e. his kid sits right next to him in games...perhaps in line to continue the coaching dynasty...?

Good. Now stay undefeated until Feb 19 (vs Memphis).

Outstanding, it will be great when we kick their ass.

They might be #1 for awhile ... St. Mary's is a top #25 future opponent ... But that's in Houston. Ooops ... They play Alabama at home and Virginia on the road ... My bad !!

I will miss playing them twice a year.

They don't deserve to be #1 based on wins. They should be about #6. Their biggest win was @ a 3-4 Oregon team. All other wins are against slaw.
The following undefeated teams should all be ranked ahead of Houston...
#2 Texas (19pt win over #2 Gonzaga)
#3 Viginia (wins over #5 Baylor, #19 Illinois)
#4 Arizona (wins over #17 San Diego St, #10 Creighton, also over Cincy which is about as good as beating Oregon)
#5 Purdue (wins over Marquette and WVU, 18pt win over #6 Gonzaga, 19pt win over #8 Duke)
#8 Uconn (wins over #18 Alabama, Iowa St, and also beat Houston's best win Oregon)
Could also argue #22 Maryland who has blowout wins over Miami and St Louis
Based on resume Purdue would be my #1

Well it wont matter because they have 3 ranked teams coming up to prove it, including on the road at Virginia. If they win those they might just enter the NCAA tourney undefeated

It ain't just about wins/losses. Computers too. They are #1 in Sagarin, #2 in KenPom, and #1 in BPI.
