All Games are on Flo.

Pretty good group of teams and some real opportunities to see what we can be early on. Toledo will be the clear favorites as they are a borderline top 25 team. We need to get by Arlington today so we can have some better matchups the rest of the way. We arent going to be a fringe tournament team, but I would like us to have some challenging games.

Give me Toledo, ECU, us and FGCU today.

We have to get production from some of our upperclassmen beyond Amari. If we dont I think we land in the loser's bracket

Drexel- 68
Arlington- 66
Arlington is 2-2 with 0 D1 wins. They got smoked by Nevada and lost by 11 to Oklahoma State. Neither are bad losses, but neither instill we should have a good chance at victory today.

They get 11 steals a game, so we need to take care of the ball. Shemar Wilson, 6'9" is their rim protector. He and Amari could have quite the battle. Wilson is averaging 9 points, 11 rebounds and 0.8 blocks per game.

Overall Arlington is very balanced scoring, they have 7 guys averaging over 7 points per game with their leading scorer at 10.5. They dont shoot well (39% from the field, 27% from deep and 67.5 from the FT line), they just shoot a lot (66 attempts per game). So this seems like our pace is the right pace for this one. Keeping them in a half court game with fewer possessions, appears to be the gameplan.
The big favorites Toledo fell to Kansas City in game 1, 83-71. Toledo was outscored 50-33 in the 2nd half.

Indiana State is up 4 with about 5 to go in the 1st half in the 2nd game.
That was a very impressive win by the Dragons today. I don't think that the win was because Drexel was really good...but UTA was just AWFUL. I thought Drexel turned the ball over way too much and missed way too many open looks, yet still won by over 20. For those of you who saw my Facebook post with the FloSports score snafu, the actual score at the time was 43-33 Drexel with 9:25 to go. UTA only scored 3 more points from that point of the game until they got a bucket in the final seconds. And that included several misses at the FT line as well.

So I'm looking forward to a night game tomorrow. Not sure right now who the opponent is....either FGCU or N Kentucky.
FGCU won
Should be a good one tomorrow. FGCU will be playing in their hometown, but not on their home court. This tournament is being played the local hockey arena, and host to the local minor league hockey team, the Florida Everblades (love that name). FGCU opened the season with a shocking marquee win at USC against their former coach. Then lost to San Diego, blew out some woman named Ave Maria, and then got blown out by Tennessee, before tonight's win over Northern Kentucky. The announers tonight were rooting for a matchup aginst NKU so that Amari could go up against Chris Brandon, who is leading the nation in rebounds. But that won't happen.

We have an overlapping doubleheader Tuesday night on FloHoops. Drexel WBB vs. Lehigh at 6, and then we can flip over the Drexel/FGCU sometime after 7:30.
Yeah 38 points on 59 shots is about as bad as it can get. Even though Toledo lost, its nice to be in the winner's bracket

Big line shift. We are now 3.5 point under dogs
Tournament favorite Toledo is going to open up 0-2 and will play in the last place game tomorrow as they lose to ECU (unless a massive comeback in the final minute)
UT Arlington win 60-56 over Northern Kentucky.
UMKC continue their winnings ways defeating Indiana State.

We are down 31-29 at half
Down 43-36. Sounds like we are merely being out hustled everywhere. We are at the under 16 with a possible intentional foul being looked at
7:32 remaining we trail 53-52. We are struggling from the FT line
5:27 left now down 58-52
Down 60-57
9-18 from the FT line wont get it done.
We fall 67-59 and will face Indiana State for 3rd tomorrow at 5p

That was disappointing. In typical Spiker fashion they battled to the end, but way too many turnovers and poor shot selection down the stretch. I'm not sure if Drexel has ever won an 8 team early season tournament. Sadly that trend will continue.
