Is NIU doing anything to promote Barstool Sports coming out to the MACtion pregame in Dekalb? Per usual I do not see anything from the university. This would be a perfect opportunity for advertising NIU football. It would look incredibly bad if nobody turned out for the pregame.
Where are you seeing this? Nothing on NIU athletics website, Bar Stool site, or Fatty's site that I can see. You'd think at a minimum Fatty's would have something on their website if they're hosting it, but they're still promoting their Halloween party. 03-banghead Got any details?

Have to pack the place if so.
Thx, Rabid. Appreciate the info. Figured it was somewhere on social media but, man, they all gotta do better than a tweet. I'm hoping to be there.
Fattys has posted some stuff.
I’ll be there.

That’s the point I’m making. To me this is a big deal yet NIU/Dekalb are doing absolutely nothing to promote this. Who is part of their marketing department because they are trash
The university is never going to promote barstool stuff

Agreed.

And why would the university be involved in marketing a private business event that they are not part of, nor, are they affiliated with………they wouldn’t do that for any other private business.

And, frankly, not sure the university has any interest in aligning itself with the Bar Stool culture.
Kudos to Fatty's! I hope they et a few extra people to the joint Wednesday.

Loved the instagram post by Portnoy the other day----that group has latched on to MACtion and he is very open about wanting to be part of it---including the weeknight, cold games, with metal bleachers with no backs and about 500 people in attendance.

Like him or Barstool or not----a very focused demographic of about of 8 million will have the the opportunity to be exposed to Fatty's and NIU.

Of course, this isn't something on the university level at all---but they, especially Big Cat, have been NIU supporters for a while so ANY good publicity is welcome at this time.
Hope Fatty's lights a fire under greek row for this.
I’m 03-old but I’m somewhat familiar with Barstool and Portnoy…”One bite…” pizza reviews….

Does it not start at Fattys til 530?

I get what you are saying, and I am peripherally familiar with Barstool. But College Gameday is a private business also, I am pretty sure they would hype that up pretty heavy if they came to town

Yes, because if College GameDay came to town, that network would most likely be broadcasting the game……not the same at all, in fact, entirely different.

They would also be broadcasting GameDay from campus, not from a privately owned bar.

Ha! Bar stool culture? Explain that to us. The problem with NIU is that there is no culture. Low university attendance, decimated Greek row, and high crime in section 8 housing that’s causing all sorts of problems. I’m just suggesting getting any national attention for NIU. Barstool is awfully popular if you haven’t noticed.

Barstool is popular in the way Jake Paul is popular. It’s fairly low-brow stuff. I wouldn’t go near it if I’m the university. Fatty’s on the other hand should be pushing the event for their own benefit.

NIU has only one culture that will attract attention, Winning. A couple of back to back 10 win seasons will do more than any PR firm could do.

Honestly, I hadn't noticed until a few people here started to hyperventilate over the Bowl Game they never hosted. Up until then, I thought all they did was pizza videos on YouTube.
What time does it start wed?

01-ncaabbs... The truth is one short sentence.

NIU does not have -- and is not likely to get, by common-sense accounts -- big bucks for major projects, a large athletic budget boost, flocks of dormant alumni showing up, expanded TV/streaming coverage, sudden burst of enrollment, etc. Solid W-L records (and winning some "big" games) is about all that's left that anyone can reasonably identify.
