5/3 at Liberty

Does Justin Verlander have any contact with the team like the football and basketball alums do?

We have so many major league affiliated alumni right now I would love to see an event where they all come in person.

No, he only associates with Coach Guzzo.
3/10-3/12 at Charlotte

Good to play Charlotte again. Wouldn't mind having an OOC series with La Tech.

I know what you are saying here, but that would be a financial blunder by both schools.

That's good. That should be the 4th weekend of the early 4-weekend non-conference portion of the schedule. I expect the other three to be the traditional low-major conference schools from the northeast coming to the Bud.

I have no expectations for the 2023 team, but the schedule can be a bit of a tell for the 2024 schedule for a team for which I am hopeful. Guessing Charlotte will come to Norfolk in 2024, unless they laid out guarantee money in the power conference range.

A couple of thoughts on the schedule. UVA doesn’t make the trip to Norfolk and ECU replaces them as the Harbor Park game. Gotta believe this was done because of how often UVA has cancelled the second game of the H/H recently and we need that Harbor Park game for fan engagement and revenue.

The three straight weeks where we host GaSo, Southern Miss and Coastal (mixed in with games against ECU and UVA) is a very difficult stretch and will probably decide how successful we are next season. But the good news is we seemed to dodge having to go on the road against all of the toughest teams in the Belt. Our toughest opponents all have to come to the Bud. So we got lucky there. And it’s nice that we have pretty limited travel ahead of the conference tournament.

Overall, it’s a pretty exciting schedule, especially for home games. I like the additions of Liberty and Charlotte to the non-conference and can’t wait for the first pitch.
Still think we should not be playing vcu, hate to be petty but I dont think we should play them in anything. The same thing could be said for us about baseball, they are a bad loss, if we do lose to them.

I don't think it's petty. I think they burned a historic bridge for selfish and shortsighted reasons. We should be mad, but also theres no reason to associate with them anymore, especially in any way that benefits them significantly more than us. Nothing in it for us
I would support not playing VCU in any sport.
Definitley short sightied on vcu's part, what if basketball is consistent top 75 or better for a couple of years in a row. Does vcu come back and say we can renew the rivalry now? The 80s, 90s 2000 games were some of the most memerable, exciting and intense contest I ever witnessed, to me ODUs biggest rival at that time.

True makes sense. I just enjoyed the games with them.

That decision would have to come directly from the top. No other ODU sport (that's not Men's Basketball) cares that VCU won't play MBB. Ask Coach Finwood his thoughts about no longer scheduling VCU, and you'll see how affected he is with the state of MBB.
That is correct. But, I want to be petty. Screw them.

+2 F$ck them, go away yellow sh$t
As much as I hate FecesU, was not their conference behind their basketball scheduling change? I don’t think it is fair to our other sports to stop playing this a-holes. Play them and own them. Bugger them at every opportunity. Kick their a$$e$ all the way back up 64.
