Sounds like they may want to use Memphis and the stadium as a hub city. ?

USFL Memphis Showboats

Surprised they didn't come here to begin with
They didn't go anywhere last year, except Birmingham.
I thought that was the plan this year as well - have these city team names, but all games played in Birmingham again.
But this sounds like they are considering branching out to different cities.
I loved the old 'Boats.
I'd go to a spring fb game at LB stadium.

i had season tickets to the showboats
fun times

early games, cold weather
later games, hot

just the opposite of fall football

wish that had survived
good times for sure

I hope this is true
Makes the city's stadium $$$ ask a little more than just Tigers FB and 1-2 other games a year, too.
Bring a good product to a football starved town... Win/Win.

At 50,000 seats it will still be a little big. 45K was a big Showboat crowd in the past. They did eclipse 55,000 once.

Sure, but the upgrades are what I'm talking about - seat reduction or none.

Exactly. Adds more weight to the ask for the state.
The naysayers have been saying, "what's the angle for state benefit?" - this is it.
And I still think we are closer to 45k than 55k after the renovation.

The capacity was 51K I believe. Before the east side rework.

Despite all my other preferences, it would make me feel better if the stadium was getting filled up for something more than once a year.

saturday was my first game this season because of health issues

and i was thinking how i liked the old configuration,
you could see the houses and trees and the towers
That would be fun.

But I don't think they could ever get the talent the old USFL had.

Those were some great times and good football.

Article linked says they plan to play all games in B'Ham again next spring, but I assume at some point they actually move to the various cities.
interesting - looks like 3 hub cities for 2023 season, including MEM

https://usflnewshub.com/usfl-news/breake...23-season/

On Thursday, The New Orleans Breakers named. The new coach was a guest on The Football Playbook with Ric Serritella and dropped this massive tidbit of information about the USFL’s plans for the 2023 season.

“Two teams will be based in Birmingham. Two teams will be based in Memphis, more than likely. Then four will be in Detroit. Thats the plan for right now. So the four northern teams will be up there.. what I was told is it will be a lot less congestion with all teams in one place. “

So this means the Generals, Stars, Panthers, and Maulers would play in Detroit. The Stallions and New Orleans Breakers would play in Birmingham. The Showboats and Houston Gamblers would play in Memphis. However, the Gamblers and Breakers could flip cities. This arrangement could also mean some teams might go away. As the rumor of the Tampa Bay Bandits.

DeFilippo also mentioned the league will get started the third week in March. More than likely, he is referring to training camp. The 2022 season kicked off on April 16th.
They're announcing it live right now. Showboards back and playing in the Simm. Will be interesting with the home side of the stadium demolished next year.

Yeah I think Brady White is their backup qb. Will be interesting to see him playing in Memphis professionally.
Brady white was on somebody’s roster last year in the USFL
