This guy. I don't want Troy to be #1 in any ranking until the end of the season.
You can't seriously rank Georgia State above App State, Georgia Southern and Marshall right now...

Just ludicracy
1. Coastal
2. Troy
3. South Alabama
4. JMU
5. App State
6. Marshall
7. Georgia Southern
8. Georgia State
9. Southern Miss
10. Louisiana

Yes I can
CCU and GA ST get moved up and ULM switches spots with TX ST, but still in bottom group.

Any of these could be the best in the SBC:
1) Coastal Carolina - Lead the whole game against App. Ranking time? (LW2)
2) Troy - UL got the early lead, but Trojans took care of business. (LW1)
3) South Alabama - Won the battle with GA Southern after being down early.. (LW3)

Strong chance at a bowl and can beat any of the above on a good day:
4) JMU - Handled by UofL. Different team now, so moving them down a group. (LW4)
5) App - Gave SSU a game, but lost. (LW5)
6) GA Southern - Gave USA a game, but lost. (LW6)
7) GA State - Stomped USM. Both teams play best when underdogs. Tough path ahead, but they could still go bowling! (LW10)
8) Southern Miss - Stomped by GA ST. Not as bad as this game indicated nor as good a the Tulane win. (LW7)

Not the bottom of the conference and still dangerous:
9) Louisiana - Had an early 10 pint lead against Troy, but lost. (LW8)
10) Marshall - Won defensive battle against ODU. (LW9))
11) ODU - Good against the best teams, fodder for the rest. (LW11)

The bottom of the conference:
12) ULM - Comeback win against TX ST. (LW13)
13) Texas State - Early lead against ULM then, lost. That drops them back down to the bottom group. (LW12)
14) Ark State - Bye. (LW14)
App State top half? Seriously?
Winning last 4 of 5 feels kinda good.

We never learn. Don't schedule 2 P5s early, suffee key injuries in the first month of the season. Digging ourselves of 0-4 back to back years.

I think so. App played within a touchdown of CCU on the road and beat west leading Troy. The unfortunate (and almost unforgivable) collapses against JMU and Texas State are the reason we are not in the top 3-4.

Of course, the last three games will sort this out.
My computer rankings:

1) Coastal Carolina
2) Troy
3) South Alabama
-----
4) James Madison
-----
5) Marshall
6) Georgia Southern
7) Southern Miss
8) App State
-----
9) Georgia State
10) Louisiana
-----
11) Old Dominion
-----
12) ULM
13) Texas State
14) Arkansas State

And my top 6:

1) Georgia
2) Ohio State
3) Michigan
4) TCU
5) Tennessee
6) Clemson

Agreed, but I guess we need the P5 pay days? It sucks.

It'll be interesting to see how CCH handles the GS defensive side of things in the off season. Clearly Sloan should have been retained. How does a defense take such a significant step back while practicing against a more balanced O?

So much of this comes down to losing that Charlotte game. We still would have dug ourselves in a bit of a hole, but it would be much more palatable. Even if one of our P5s were replaced with an FCS game to make a fairly "standard" schedule (1 FCS, 2 G5s, 1 P5), if you had told me going into the year that we could beat the FCS team and Charlotte, but we'd lose to Army and a P5, I would have thought, "Well, I'd like more, but I guess we can live with that 2-2 OOC, as those are reasonable Ls" (thought Army was better going into the year, of course).
