This athletic department clearly needs help with the social media presence. Sure the content/videos released on our accounts is 2005 caliber. But how does your primary account tweet it’s game day, create a graphic to go along with it and not include one bit of info on where to watch the game. I had to go to the schedule on the website to find it. It’s not even mentioned in the pregame write up.

Don’t get me started on the hawkyeah slogan. My lord. That was terrible 7 or 8 years ago when it first came out. I will say the best content we ever had released was during Rob’s interim run. I don’t know who the department let walk away but it was a mistake. Everything since then has been mostly mediocre at best and downright embarrassing at worst.

100%. Whomever they had making videos during Rob's run was a major brightspot in an otherwise lackluster area

Media in general is not our thing

The Coach's show on Facebook is rough. Terrible platform for a show like that. If the phone locks while I'm driving or working the feed cuts out. No easy way to get to old shows

The Seahawk youtube basketball show feels like it's out of the 90s

The quality of our productions is rough compared to other CAA schools as is our complete lack of interest in taking advantage of the opportunity to get games on local TV.
Sounds like we will be staying with flow sports. The caa gets $15 million. I asked why caa schools do not improve video for games. They use the money to get games on cbs sports.

I hate flo but I’m going to argue I’d rather it be on flosports than cbssports. I’m certainly not picking up a cable package and add on cbssports package. So from my perspective they are spending money to put their product on something that’s negative to most fans and likely draws minimal national/regional interest anyways.

CBSSports is included on HULU Live which is the biggest player in streaming cable. It is also included on Youtube TV.

Youtube TV is actually the biggest(5 mil to 4.1), but your point still stands.

Understand. I have free antenna/tablo tv, hbo max, Disney+, rotate on/off Netflix, prime, and espn+. And now flo. I cant watch what I have so not buying a streaming cable package just for some cbssports.

Edit: To your point though. Hopefully some eyes see it. The growth of gambling on college sports can only help. Most are more inclined to gamble on a game they can watch.
Coaches hate FloSports because it has no national exposure, especially when it comes to recruiting.

Yes flo is not good. Don’t like it. Wish we went espn+. You can watch with some cheap tricks without paying the full price as others have alerted me to. I’m to the point I’d rather pay for a bad deal than sacrifice not watching Seahawk ball. You can watch without paying at all if you refresh the screen every few minutes on flo. Tedious but I did that last year out of spite until conference play and paid.
I’ll give them this. They posted some video content across multiple platforms. It looks like someone took an iPhone “memories” video automatically compiled in the album section of their phone and published it. No editing whatsoever. No flosports game footage or uncw staff recorded in game footage or highlights. You need to bring someone with a camera. You need a small team who can produce content.

Our Bahamas video is 2002 level content. Watch below.

Now compare to College of Charlestons tournament video:

Obviously College of Charleston had an electric atmosphere and resources at home. No way UNCW is currently equipped as a staff nor do they have the creative vision to make something of this level currently.

If you think this is trivial and me nit picking at them, you are mistaken. This is critical to recruiting, branding your program, generating alumni and fan interest, and raising money. This is the new game and we are decades behind where we should be with our content. You don’t need a better tv deal to do this. We can’t blame the CAA here. This is on the athletic department.
Sorry to go on and on. I make home family videos and do the editing myself and they are more inspiring than the stuff uncw puts out. I mean that honestly. High school kids in a “keyboarding” class produce better content. You don’t need some massive investment. You literally need 1-2 people and a decent camera/mic for an effective product here. You can leverage interns or whatever. It’s worth paying for someone if you need to. It’s not difficult. I could do it and I’m nearly 40 and in finance. All it takes is an appreciation of capturing footage, compiling content, and editing down into a meaningful and brand aligned story.

Positive: I thought some of the behind the scenes clips in the Bahamas were a nice touch. Locker room content, pregame, etc. The game day graphics and post game graphics are good. And for those without flo, they did a good job providing sporadic highlights to keep up with the action.
I do not get flosports but was told uncw added replay this year. Every caa school needs to update video. This is what i think they should do with the $15 million they got from flo instead of paying cbs to put games on tv. Once video upgraded go to esnp+

Wow our "video" was basically a PowerPoint slide

On a campus of close to 20k kids surely they can find someone with a knack for video editing and give them something worthhwile
Guys, ESPN+ is not happening with the current makeup of the CAA. Not when a school like Northeastern has their own partnership with NESN. All schools in the league have to be on board with ESPN+ for it to work.

Want ESPN+? Gotta get out of the CAA. Period.
I hear ya on flosports and the tv deal. It’s out of our control and it’s not the point here. But our branding and content is not out of our control. Say we are good this year. Make the big dance. Win a game. You do not want our current level of content production to be how we showcase our program nationally. It’s embarrassing. It’s embarrassing enough compared to our CAA rivals. You need to be able to capitalize on big moments. Most people aren’t going to watch us on espn+ or flosports. But a recruit will see our social media page first thing when we show interest.

That Bahamas tournament win was the first pre season tournament we’ve won since the 05/06 season out in Wyoming. We should have been prepared to showcase our brand. Siddle and the team and staff did their jobs. The athletic department did not.
If I'm not mistaken UNCW has a program for film studies (making movies). The athletic department should tap into that resource to improve their video productions and programs.

Doesn't this fall on Joe Browning? Seems like a nice guy, but he's a little behind the times. You should send him an email stating exactly what you wrote in this post. Tell him to get rid of #HawkYeah while you're at it.

Wow looks like they posted a nice looking Bahamas video after 2:00pm today. Maybe it was in the queue. Maybe our thread lit the fire. Either way this is exactly the content we need to be getting out there. Don’t limit it to instagram. Post it to Twitter and Facebook as well.

Joe Browning does a great job for UNCW. This does not fall on him. As video media has progressed this should not be the SID job. This is another admin issue and that is on the AD. The next AD needs to create a full time position for Media and Video.
If you look at the Twitter profile @Hawkyeah that is credited by UNCW basketball you could draw the conclusion that slogan is from a student
