womp womp

That is only a one Womp ..... Womp Womp for now.
That is just a "wo".

It is a stay pending SCOTUS looking at whether even to take the case.

The Trump lawyers are getting pretty used to blowing everything up to emergency stay petitions at the SCOTUS. Maybe they will get a frequent "filer" points soon.
Are the dems expecting to see a "Bribe from Putin" line item on his income statement?

This saga might be the dumbest of all of them.
If Trump was Hillary he'd be out right now burning papers, smashing cell phones and clearing every computer his people's ever touched.

That is the end game for the SCOTUS because after the democrats lose the house this witch/fishing hunt ends and there's no reason for the full court to look at it. So any ruling on the whole court taking it up will be pushed off till after the results of the election is in. If its any earlier I would be shocked.

Why would it chap my ass?

And.... you dont seemingly understand the timeframe and the stance of the case.

Trump lost in the DC Appeals. So he files an emergency stay with SCOTUS. Most emergency stays are decided in days. You might notice that the emergency stay by Roberts says a response is due tomorrow.

If he loses the stay -- the committee gets the returns.

If the emergency stay doesnt fly, they dont --- either avenue we will know quickly.

To get the emergency stay, Trump has a pretty long target to hit. The law is pretty clear, so Trump has to show a 'facially unconstitutional' finding for the law --- always a tough one to do. If he does, no skin off my back.

I would say the best use of other people's donations ever to take everything in the world up SCOTUS on emergency stays. I kind of feel for the dipshits that donate to Trump political funds currently --- kind of feeding the gaping maws of Trump attorneys appealing everything to SCOTUS and appellate courts. Kind of a neat gig to grift for your own legal fees from the raft of stupid people wanting to go to the rallies and respond to his clamoring for scratch..... Lolz.

The emergency stay will be decided well before the new Congress sits. That is the real day at issue --- not the results of the election.

The emergency stay can be denied. They are all the time.

See Trump's last emergency stay as an example.

Haven’t dug into this much, but what House Committee is this? Read the stay, didn’t see a named committee

Reread. House ways and Means.

K. Hunh. Be interesting how much the SC would like to expand the power of these politicized committees.

Keep pushing it you idiots, it’s worked out well so far…

To wit:

Quote:Nov 22 (Reuters) - The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday cleared the release of Donald Trump's tax returns to a House of Representatives committee, handing a defeat to the Republican former president who had called the Democratic-led panel's request politically motivated.

The justices denied Trump's Oct. 31 emergency application to block a lower court's ruling that upheld the Ways and Means Committee's request for his tax records as a justified part of the panel's legislative work. No justice publicly dissented from the decision.
U.S. Supreme Court clears way for lawmakers to get trump's tax returns

And predictably:

They'll be disappointed when they find out there's not a line item to Putin
They waited until the House was in Republican control.

Now it is up to the House leadership to shut it down.

Not quite, the 118th Congress won't convene until January 3, 2023 at noon. Until that time the GOP has no more power in the House than it has had for the past two years. Legislation is unlikely to result from this short period of time with Trump's taxes during the lame duck, but legislation was never likely anyway. And should any Presidents after Trump try this stunt, they should be smacked down much faster now that the precedent has been set.

how would you ‘mix that drink’?!
Why would a House Committee need to see a former President's Tax returns? Do they think the IRS is incompetent? This will lead to a precedent for the current POTUS, or should I say "Big Guy" . Wonder if there are any "10%" line items on his TR?
There is nothing in the Constitution that requires this. Since 1970...Presidents have voluntarily turned over their taxes..but..it is not a requirement. Trump's or any other citizens returns are no ones business unless probable cause of criminality can be shown before a judge. That has not occurred to my knowledge.

What I'm saying is Trump will "need until next year" to assemble the required documents. By then the new House will be seated. The new House will make all new committee assignments, and the new committee will no longer want Trump's tax returns.
