Drexel is still considered to be the top dog in WBB this season. Keishana Washington is back for another year and is picked to be the preseason player of the year and Drexel's only all team representative as she's on the first team.

Drexel's biggest competition from previous years, Towson and Delaware are picked 5th and 6th respectively. Of the new members, Stony Brook is the highest pick at 3rd. They predict that the other newbies will struggle in the high level of CAA Women's Basketball.

i would have beef if i was william and mary. 2 first team all conference players and picked 7th. they took a run at delaware in the tournament last year. i guess it's one of those situations where they have to prove they can be better before they start getting respect.

otherwise...what else can you say? another fun year of drexel women's basketball is coming up.

William and Mary does have a new coach, but still returns all but 1 player. Usually that kind of experience would yield better expectation. Towson also seem to have a bit of a new coach penalty.
I haven't thought one bit about women's basketball since March, but I forgot that Delaware also has a new coach, along with Towson and W&M.

similar to the men's side i'm waiting for the games to start to see who the hell is playing for each team. it's just as hard to pick these polls as it was coming off the seasons that were impacted the most by covid.

by the way...we'll have to see how that plays into this season as well. i haven't heard if protocols have changed. psu game is in prime territory to be called off based on the last 2 years. hopefully everything goes off successfully.
Yeah, there are some issues on this one I think. I agree about W&M. I thought Stony Brook is too low. Charleston, I get but dont agree with. They can score but dont get back on defense, which wont win consistently. They do return most of their team though. We have Kei, but also a bunch of question marks with what we lost. I like the respect, but have a hard time seeing us be the top team. Maybe we get there, but we will have a learning curve this season without Nihill (and Brugler). 3-4 seems right for us. I would think Stony Brook would be the real favorite this season. The rest of the top 7 here are probably reasonably interchangeable.

Good analysis. We just don't know how good SB will be jumping up to a higher level. The CAA in WBB is leap years ahead of the AE. Should be a fun season.
No doubt the CAA is well ahead of AE, but they also have been heads and shoulder above the rest of the AE. Last year's results certainly looked like it would have been a great matchup for us and a coin toss of a game. I do think the parity will be higher this season than season's past. The top 4 had been pretty consistent year over year. I think this season offers a lot of choices of teams who can win. But I dont see any team being heads and shoulders above the pack and there is no clear top 4. So yes, it should be a lot of fun and very competitive

we have coach mallon the podcast this week. we are lucky to have her...in case that wasn't already obvious.

Kei picked by Charlie Creme at ESPN as POY for the CAA. Not a difficult pick, but still nice for recognition.

Absolutely. Glad to hear how invested the school is in the program as well. When you constantly have alums coming back, its a good sign of a positive culture.
As listening to the pod and being so close to the season starting, always fun to make projections.

Still so much unknown beyond Kei. I think there will be slip ups somewhere, but was hard to find. Schedule is decently soft for a lofty record.

I have the women going 9-2 OOC (loses to Buffalo and Penn State)
I have them going 14-4 in conference (splitting with Delaware, Stony Brook and W&M; losing to CofC)

Overall 23-6
