Quite an affair last night. Attendance was somewhat north of the average MAC school’s GAME attendance. Allie Clifton was the guest speaker and was interviewed in front of a large screen showing photos of her career. At one point she stopped in mid-sentence and pointed to a photo behind her. The team is shown leaping from the bench and racing on to the floor screaming.

“We just beat BG. Coach Cullop had just leaned over and said ‘Act like you’ve done it before. I said ‘Nope!’ BG still gets to me.” Says something about the relative shift in the two programs’ fortunes.

Sad to see Hanna on crutches and Bolser get senior recognition, knowing she was never able to play, but the future for the team looks bright.
I generally go to both MBB and WBB preview events. This was another really first class affair. The WBB program seems so much more appreicative of the support that they get. The MBB ( my opinion) seems to be a little more aloof and less appreciative; more reflective of TK's persona.

Allie Clifton was very insightful and certainly has made it to the highest level of in studio presence with the Lakers and Spectrum Sports. Also seems to have landed a great gig as a podcaster as well.

AD Brian B was there along with our new Deputy AD. He has an interesting fact that he is using to show how well WBB draws in attendance. He said that besides South Carolina, UT outdraws ALL other SEC WBB teams. That is impressive TSTL.

Looking forward to BOTH seasons. Go Rockets!
Very much enjoyed last night, was cool to see a few fellow teammates of Clifton in the crowd as well.
Thanks for the reports folks. Wish I could get to one of those one day.

Photos on twitter showed the place was packed and seemed to imply this year there were more people than usual. Hope that bodes well for attendance this year.

Allie is a great ambassador for UT as she still talks fondly about her time there in interviews and such. Was a sad day in Cleveland when she moved from covering the Cavs to the Lakers, but can't blame her.

#24 days til the season opener. I'll have a bunch of preseason scouting info to post maybe this weekend.

You are getting bad info. Eight SEC teams rank in the top 35. The worst average about 3800. SC is around 11,000, Tennessee is 8700, Kentucky 6000, etc.

Yeah, that seemed off. Maybe he meant North Carolina and ACC?

UT was 28th this past season. Ahead of them were 7 of the 14 SEC teams, so yeah, not just USC. But to look at it positively, UT finished ahead of 7 SEC teams, 8 B10 teams, 5 Big12 teams, 9 PAC12 teams and 12 ACC teams. So that's still pretty dang impressive.

Also, if you want to tell an even more positively spun story, UT was 13th last year in attendance as a percentage of stadium capacity (48%). Only 3 SEC teams ahead of Toledo in that metric (USC, LSU, UK) only 1 B10 team (Iowa) and 2 ACC teams (ND, NCState). NCState is only in there because the WBB team plays in a 5000 seat arena rather than 20K Seat PNC Arena that the men play in.
If you want to play with sorting the attendance stats yourselves, see:

Sorry about that but was quoting our new AD. Now that you think of it the SEC is historically strong supporting WBB. Especially SC and TN. Should have researched the post before I pushed "reply"
