Russia and Afghanistan have agreed to a discounted sale of wheat, fuel, and cooking gas with delivery starting soon.

While Moscow does not recognize the Taliban government officially, they are one of the few nations to not close their embassy there and appear to be acting pragmatically.

Overlooked in the Talibans rule since last year, they are in a harsh 2 year drought that has greatly reduced their food supply.

Since this is big news for the Taliban government, it does bring Russia additional goodwill with the Afghan people, helps stop more refugees, ends a degree of suffering, and can possibly help stabilize a country on the border of several Russian allies.

Not many countries will do anything for Afghanistan because of the Taliban government, but Afghan people have suffered a lot in their lives I hope this gives some people a little hope going into winter.

Seriously.......
It is ironic that we spent billions piecing together the worst examples of human beings we could assemble to stop Russia from building damns to generate electricity and irrigation projects in Afghanistan.

When said group turned out to be exactly what we knew they were when we recruited them, we then borrowed over a trillion dollars and spent 20 years to try to remove them from the positions of power we fought so hard to place them in. When that failed, we are now blame them for being what we wanted them to be in the first place. Yet that is why we funded and supported them in the first place.

Ironic indeed. Other countries cleaning up our messes as usual.

And today we are still doling it out. 13 billion more to “get Russia” in Ukraine, billions for Afghan refugees, and a token amount to help the American people living in the cold here.
