There are some things so unbelievable that they boggle the mind.

The great pyramid of Giza, the ceiling of the Sistine chapel, Tigers being a 20-point favorite over Temple.

Every bit of data suggests a very low-scoring game.

It is possible that 20 points could win the game.

The Tiger's main concern is OL play.

Temple is very good at pressuring and sacking the QB

The Tigers must find a way to get the running game going and protect Seth.

Against UNT, Seth had one of the worst games of his career.

He'll be facing a much, much tougher defense.

Tiger's defense may need to step up again and create scoring opportunities.

Temple is in the top 10 in passing defense, red zone defense, punt return defense, blocked punts, kick-off return defense, sacks, and are top 20 in total defense, sacks allowed, and scoring defense.

This creates additional issues for the Tiger's underperforming OL.

While Seth has the ability to function as a dual-threat QB, he's far more productive in the pocket.

The OL has to find a way to protect him AND they need to open holes for the running game.

Tigers are among the top in the nation in creating turnovers and must continue that trend this week.

Temple is far more discipline defensively and doesn't gamble as much, this is why they've created only 2 turnovers so far this year.

The only justification for the 20-point line is Temple's offense is more anemic than the Martian blood in the 1953 classic War of the Worlds.

Averaging an AAC low of 279 total yards per game.

If the Tigers play a mistake-free game they should win.

I just can't see a 20-point margin unless the Tigers dramatically improve their level of play.

Through the first four games, the Tigers haven't come close to playing a full 4 quarters.

The Tigers should win but either take the points or keep money in your pocket.

Thanks --good stuff
Temple undoubtedly has a solid defense. However, some of those stats are misleading. They had 12 sacks combined against Lafayette and UMASS, but only 3 total against Duke and Rutgers. They also had 3 blocked punts against Lafayette, which was their only reason for winning that game by double digits, as far as I can tell.

Our O-Line will need to step it up if our offense expects to move the ball consistently, but overall it’s not that surprising that we’re favored so heavily. Personally, I expect us to win a 28-14 type of game.

Also, this is my first post. Greetings everyone.

If scoring defense means what it says I would have thought our 2 interceptions for TDs would have greatly improved or ranking.

Short way to describe points given up per game.
How can Temple be 1st in Red Zone Offense, but 117th in Scoring Offense?

If temple reaches the red zone they score

Outside of that, not so much

Got it. Seems weird that there is that much disparity. But comprende.

Next 2 questions, are we both really tied for #1 Red Zone O? What's that based upon points from the RZ, % scores within the RZ, etc?

if you reach the rz 10 times and score 10 times you are 100%
if you reach the rz 2 times and score 2 times you are 100%

it can be either td or field goal
I like avg pts from the RZ as a better metric, but thanks.
If I had a staff I could present a deeper more detailed analysis of the stats. But it's just not possible to do so as a single individual, especially with the amount of historical research I have going on with another project.

"By The Numbers" and the 4 "Last 10 Coaches" are just pet projects I do along with running several fantasy leagues to break up the drawn out hours of research. They are a healthy break, especially in those periods when my research hits a dead end. It gets frustrating when you have a promising lead to have it dry up and not produce any results.
