So now the republicans have revealed their "Commitment to America," and perhaps to the surprise of nobody, I'm underwhelmed. Newt's Contract it ain't.

Too many platitudes, not enough specifics, and no indication that I can see that it is going to be pushed as hard as Newt's was.

Anybody here have any thoughts?

No, which is why I asked the question. But you knew that.
I believe that we are a strong enough nation to survive stupidity. But I don't believe that we are strong enough as a nation to survive corruption.

Raging about being "surrounded by idiots" probably feels good in the moment. But it seems ill-conceived to do so while your neighbors are at that very moment making off with your belongings.

So you stop them from doing so. But nobody seems to want to do that.

I have to disagree with the bold text (the rest is the residual impact) ... I've made the following posit too many a time ... it's worth repeating...

it's a simple numbers' game ... as the boomers fade coupled with decades of LBJ''s 'muh greatest society', the numbers of "stupid" are growing like muh 'weeds' > sanity with capacity to value incentive < TTThee teat = socialist policy ... again, only missed that start-up by a decade...

04-cheers bubby!

But that lets the democrats make it about abortion and gay rights, the two issues where the majority of the USA agree with them.

Republicans should be taking the initiative to make it about issues where they hold the upper hand. With the way the last 20 months or so have gone, they should be able to find ways to make the economy a winner for them.

The voting public cant hear any of that over the price they are paying for stuff. So dont shout it out to them where they can hear it. Also, abortion isnt going to move the needle because about 75% of the public agree there should be some sort of limit on it. Telling people they can no longer yank a baby halfway out and kill it is not registering with a vast majority of the public, because the vast majority find it reprehensible.
